The L.I.F.E. class continues our series on the Psalms. Today, Pastor Bill will lead our discussion on psalms which express loneliness and lament, in both personal and congregational settings. Next week, we will look at Psalms written during times of fear and how they might help us today. Join us in the parlor at 10:30! Remember your personal coffee mugs that you used during Fellowship 30 prior to renovation? Well...they are back! They will be on a cart in the Fellowship Hall each week. Washing and care of the mugs are the owner s responsibility. For security purposes, the Properties Team would like the church office to be locked on Sunday mornings. Any items for the staff, financial secretary or treasurer should be placed in the white mail box to the left of the office door. Open Youth Room (grades 3-8): Last one! Monday, August 20, 10:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m., lunch provided. Forty Autumns: A Family s Story of Courage and Survival on Both Sides of the Berlin Wall, by Nina Willner, is the next book selected by Page Turners. At the heights of the Cold War, the author became the first female Army Intelligence Officer to lead investigative operations in East Berlin. This is Willner s first book, a story which describes in riveting detail what it was like in East Germany under communist rule and of a family s refusal to buckle under a ruthless dictatorship. Forty Autumns is an informative and timely read. In our increasingly tumultuous modern era when borders have once again become the front lines of critical issues, stories like Willner s are especially important. They serve as powerful reminders not only of our capacity for evil, but also of our will to endure under seemingly insurmountable circumstances. The conversation gathering is scheduled for Sunday, September 23, at 3:00 p.m., in the Parlor. We always welcome new participants. Please accept this as an Young Adult Pool Party: August 25, 4:00 p.m., at the Hoffer s. Donation of snacks and baked goods are needed again each week for Live Out Loud, our weekly 4th-9th grade youth gathering, beginning August 30. In the Welcome Center, you will find slips of paper, each with a different date marked on it. Please pick a date you can donate and place the half with your name on it in the basket keep the other half as a reminder. A box of Manna Bags is located in the Welcome Center (under the side balcony ). Each bag contains a bottle of water, nonperishable food items, and a list of local resources and organizations. Manna Bags can be given to the homeless you see on the streets, the person on the street corner asking for help, or a person that God has placed in your path needing your help. Feel free to grab a bag to keep in your car to offer when you encounter a person who may benefit from its contents.

Welcome Center Now Open! The area under the side balcony is now named the Welcome Center. It is a central location ideal for conversation and meetings with seating areas and tables. It is a convenient location for dropping off donations, signing up for activities, accessing mail and information. This is what you will find and where you will find it.
