True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring (Martin Luther King, Jr.) January 20, 2019

Conversation with Pablo Peregrina Pablo Peregrina is a bicultural, songwriting troubadour and humanitarian, known for his border volunteerism. Through the humanitarian movement, Pablo has traveled outside of Arizona to perform his migrant music. Two of his songs are in a border documentary The Second Cooler with Martin Sheen narrating. His versatile, passionate and rich singing is apparent in all his musical diversity such as cumbia, salsa, cha-chas, original songs, and of course, rock and roll! You can see Pablo s powerful Ted Talk on Youtube. Special Music Pablo Peregrina These Shoes MLK, Jr. Observance Read by Hubert Hirwa First, I must confess that over the last few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels
he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season. Shallow understanding from people of goodwill is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection." Moment of Silence Special Music Pablo Peregrina Act of Reconciliation Led by Peg Heintzelman No Color In the Eyes We Are One Written by Peg Heintzelman I feel the air around me, it swaddles us in its welcoming embrace. I imagine it is alive, its touch tender and familiar. We breathe in the air and exhale ourselves; We are one. I feel the ground beneath my feet, It nurtures us, feeding our bodies and souls. I know the Earth is alive and Mother of all things She birthed all living things and that includes you and me, We are one. I consider the sky; far above me, It sustains us, delighting our senses.
I believe the cosmos is alive; sun, moon and stars, They impart exquisite DNA to us and the world, We are one. We are not separate from any part of life; From the minuscule to the mighty. I feel the world is alive and waiting to be celebrated. We are unique pieces in the magnificent puzzle of life. We are one. Each moment holds the possibility of celebration. Life, love and joy surround us. As sisters and brothers to all things, it is ours to share, Gifts abound, air, Earth and sky! We are one. Mitakuye Oyasin, we are all related. Let us sing! Singing Our Faith Dream God s Dream Dream God's dream Holy Spirit, help us dream... Of a world where there is justice, and where everyone is free To build and grow and love And to simply have enough The world will change when we dream God's dream
I'm dreaming of a world where the color of one's skin Will mean less than what's within the person's heart A world where water's clean, and where air is safe to breathe And every child born has enough to eat. (Chorus) I'm dreaming of the call God is offering to me How to use my energy and my best gifts To do the work of peace -- to say, God please use my life To spread Your healing love -- and to live your Truth (Chorus) I'm dreaming of the way that I want my life to go I've got hopes and I've got goals I'd like to meet I'm reaching for the stars, but I won't forget the scars Of Christ who died to show that the Dream's for all... (Chorus) Passing the Peace Donna Stepp In this day made fresh, may we embrace this day in hope. Let us embrace each other in peace.
