DECEMBER 2, 2018 I THE FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT My Dear Parishioners: We begin the Advent Season today. What a beautiful time of the Church s life in which we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior 2000 years ago at Christmas and look ahead with longing for His Second Coming in which He will bring to fulfillment the Father s saving plan of salvation. In today s Gospel reading, Our Lord challenges us to not become drowsy as we wait for Him to return in glory. How easy it is to let the anxieties of daily life distract us from our Lord and His promise to return and make all things new. Advent is a yearly chance to wake up again, reminding ourselves through the Advent Wreathe and special family prayers that Jesus is coming again and He is our only hope for happiness forever. Let us all take advantage of this Holy Season to draw near to Our Lord. Please follow your Advent Family Calendar together as a family. 9:00 & 11:00 Babysitting is available in the Cathedral Center Grace Suite for children ages 6 months 3 years. VOLUME 72 NUMBER 48 2
