As I look back, we have much to celebrate as a church family and we will do so on Sunday December 30th. As you read the scriptures, stones of remembrance were placed by God s people to remind them and future generations of God s faithfulness. This is the heart behind our annual Time of Remembrance service. If anyone has any pictures (baptisms, pictures from our events, etc) from 2018 that you would like to include for that day, please get them to me by December 16th. Since my heart currently seems to be on remembering things, I would like to remind us all about what our focus should be on as a church family. The early church in the New Testament focused on evangelism and disciple making. They were always sharing the gospel and then discipling those that came to Christ. Everything seemed to flow from those two priorities. The they was every Christian, not just the apostles or church leaders. So with this as a reminder, let s make it hard for someone to go to hell from Cox s Creek, KY, from your work place, from your neighborhood, and from your school. This will happen when each Christian regularly shares the gospel and then disciples those who come to faith in Christ. We have disciple making groups (D Groups) here at church that help us spiritually grow and equip us to be obedient to God s word. Let s all refocus and make it hard for people to go to hell from anywhere WE are! THE VIEW FROM RIVER VIEW PAGE 2 The youth recently finished up the DVD driven Experiencing God Bible study. Many have shared that they really enjoyed this study. In October, the youth went to Spencer County High School for their annual Fields of Faith youth event. It was a wonderful evening with youth leading the music and sharing personal testimonies as the gospel was shared. We had 7 adults and 14 students that went from our church family. I am very thankful for the youth serving as well at the Highgrove Fall Festival and cleaning out the church basement. Great job! Minister to people 2018 Sunday Bible Study High Attendance: 107 We have gone from summer to fall. The holiday season is right in front of us. Allow me to ask you a question, what is your relationship with the Word? We all desire to be in control of our lives only to discover we are not. We have questions about many things, questions we need answers to. Decisions we need to make, but honestly don t know which way to turn. Your relationship to the Word is the true answer! He promises to direct our paths if we trust Him with all our hearts, Proverbs 3:5-6. In our small groups (Sunday School) we are studying the book of James. The question I also have for you is, are you obeying the part of the Word that you know? James 1:22 says; But become doers of the Word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. Obey the Word you do know & He will reveal more to you. Let us help you understand & apply the Word in your life, join us in Sunday School! We also have discipling groups that all of us need. THE VIEW FROM RIVER VIEW PAGE 4 Elaine Hammond - Treasurer And now, these three things remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 It s time to pray and plan the 2019 budget. Please understand that even though we research and figure we make an educated guess on the money we will receive and what our expenses will be. And yes, as of the end of September, 2018 we are below our budget expectations by around $15,000. But also as of September our expenses were about $25,000 below what we had projected for that period. With our homecoming, revival and insurance paid during October we will be about even with the expense versus the contributions. Compared to 2017, our general fund contributions are up by $6,011.17. Our Building fund total as of last September was $127,654.63 and with the transfer of designated funds to our Building fund at the end of this September, our new balance is $232,852.68! As we begin the remodeling, this is such an exciting time for our church family! With a lot of prayer, patience and love God will bless our efforts for His building and His budget!
