The Good News. The Pastor s Pen JULY Dear Friends,

the Cedar Chips June 2017 Pastor s Corner Yes, rain and more rain! Sounded like Thailand. I love every day though I love a sunny day more than a cloudy day. There are things happening each day I must choose how to react to. To many people summertime is down time. To me summer is very active. I can get more things done and I have more energy to work with sunshine. June is another busy month as a pastor and a person. Spruce up day, Pentecost Sunday, cycle blessing Sunday, Father s day, outdoor worship and picnic Sunday, meetings, visiting, traveling, concerts, and more - Woooo Hoooo! So eventful! I thank God for my life. Often I pondered how genius God was when God made humans. How organs, blood, big and small parts inside a human body function kept amazed me. God knew how everything should work to keep a person healthy. Amazing God and wonder works of God lately I thought a lot about what I can do or what my body automatically does as a routine. I paused at times recognizing my limits and noticing my body growing older. I kept thinking how thorough God was when thinking of muscles, bones, and all cells in the body operated and cooperated. God of all life! to pray for more love in people hearts. If we want to make a difference, look up and look at a half-full glass. Every day comes to us and gone. Colossians 3: 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Amen. God is Good! Life is Precious! Signed Pastor Kris Our Vision Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church seeks to glorify God through nurturing spiritual growth, developing faithful discipleship, and serving our community. Every day is God s day for you and me to live on. Somedays we have more times to think about things, God, life, and more. Somedays we feel inspired. Somedays we feel frustrated. Somedays can be hectic. Somedays can be calm. Never stop thanking God for every moment we have left on earth. God s peace rules when everyone connected properly and united with God s love. The Holy Space of Love An ancient story is told of two brothers who shared grain fields and a mill and, at day s end, equally divided the results of their labor. But the unmarried farmer felt that his brother, with a family to support, should have a greater share. So each night, under cover of darkness, he added some of his grain to his brother s. Meanwhile, the married brother was concerned that his single brother would have no children to care for him in his old age. So each night he, too, added to his brother s granary. One night, the selfless brothers ran into each other. Grasping what was going on, they laughed and embraced. Rabbinic legend holds that on that spot where love was freely shared God decided his Temple should be built. Wherever people act in sacrificial love, the space between them is holy. 3

Sowing Generously "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9: 6-7 (NIV) Give naught, get same. Give much, get same." Malcolm Forbes (1919-1990), American Publisher "We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill (1874-1965) "God has given us two hands--one to receive and the other to give with. We are not cisterns made for hoarding; we are channels made for sharing." - Billy Graham Summer is coming, and while you're taking that long-awaited vacation, the church will be here for you just as we are all year. Expenses don't take a summer break, so we need your support as much as ever. Please remember to send in or drop off your offering even when you aren't here.
