TRIUMPH OF THE CROSS PARISH COMMUNITY NEWS DONUT SUNDAY: July 22nd after the 8:30 am, 10:00am and 11:30am Masses. Held in the Holy Rosary Auditorium. CLOSURE EXTENDED: PARISH OFFICE REPAIRS: During the construction process there will be no entrance into the Offices. The staff will be available to answer the phone Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., our regular hours of operation. The company responsible for the replacing of the steps at the Cathedral were delayed in their starting by at least a full week. Therefore, I believe it would be wise for us to plan on the Cathedral remaining closed until August 11/12. Once the work has been completed it appears that we will need to have many hands in helping to clean the Cathedral in preparation for receiving our new Bishop. We most likely would be able to do this cleaning during the week of August 5 th. As the work progresses, we will keep you informed of developments. OTHER REPAIRS: Parish Offices: The work continues to progress well and the progress is quite visible. Cathedral Interior: I am happy to report that they have been busily scraping off the loose paint and plaster. The repair work is progressing smoothly. The surfaces are being prepared for painting. If you do not remember what it looked like with chipped and flaking paint, you will not see much difference since there is no change in the color of the paint. St. Pius Elevator: The elevator company has made a change in their local representative and hopefully we will be able to make some progress. We are attempting to make the necessary changes so that it can be certified for operation by the State Department of Commerce. These repairs are being paid for through our rental account and not parish or building repair funds. THANK YOU: I would like to thank the members of parish council, their spouses, and parishioners who worked so diligently and cheerfully for our parish picnic. The weather cooperated, a gentle breeze was blowing, the grilles sizzled, the splash pad provided cooling water, and various ballgames entertained the hearts of the young. The dishes filled with delicious food enticed many to return for many helpings. It was good to be together and to share the afternoon. FOOD FOR THE POOR: Dear Parishioners, please join us next weekend to hear Rev. Anthony P. Palazzolo speak at all the Masses about a ministry providing direct relief to the poor throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. He will share what they have witnessed about Food For the Poor s mission to care for the destitute as a means of living out the Gospel mandate to love one another. Fr. Palazzolo was ordained to the Diocese of Mandeville in Jamaica in 1993. In addition to preaching on behalf of Food For the Poor, he works for the Family Life Office in the Diocese of St. Augustine, as an advisor-counselor. Please join me in welcoming Father Palazzolo. Samaritan House is currently in need of the following items this month: cereal, tuna, chili, crackers, peanut butter and Spaghetti O's. Other items that we regularly give out are green beans, corn and peas, pork and beans, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce, fruit, macaroni and cheese, and soup. We are also in need of short term and long term volunteers to help sort clothes, price items, and work the register. If you are interested please call Sr. Veronica at 740-282-8590. You may bring your donations to the back of Church on Saturday, July 28th, and Sunday, July 29th. Thank you for your continued support and generosity of this ministry! Sr. Patrick Gillen, OSF, who has served in the Diocese of Steubenville as an educator and most recently in Pastoral Care at Trinity Hospital, has returned to the Motherhouse. You may write to her at the following address: Rosary Care Center, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania, OH 43560. ST. PETER S Bereavement Ministry is sponsoring a bus trip on Sunday, October 14, 2012 to Seven Springs Resort Fall Festival / Lenox Outlet. The cost of the bus trip and buffet is $45.00. For further information call Marilyn Ford at 740-264-9131. 2

CONDOLENCES (CCC 1405) There is no surer pledge or clearer sign of this great hope in the new heavens and new earth in which righteousness dwells, than the Eucharist. Every time this mystery is celebrated, the work of our redemption is carried on and we break the one bread that provides the medicine of immortality, the antidote for death, and the food that makes us live forever in Jesus Christ. With this great hope we pray for our sisters who have died: Delia Dicarlantonio, 89, July 7 Donna J. Lemasters, 64, July 8 May they enjoy the eternal banquet the Lord has prepared for them.
