January 2019 email information to: dgrbmm@gmail.com Happy New Year! I received a wonderful present for Christmas, a devotional book for every day of the year by Sarah Young, Jesus Calling Enjoying Peace in His Presence. January 1: Psalm 27:8 Come, my heart says, Seek his face! Your face, LORD, do I seek ; Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God what is good and acceptable and perfect and Jeremiah 29:11 I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. The author wants you to spend time with your Bible and your mind OPEN. As I sat by the fire and watched the snow fall, I was grateful for the opportunity to start the New Year surrounded by God s creation. The devotional asked that I come with a teachable spirit, eager to be changed. The old year is over and I am being given a New Year! 2018 was an amazing year, I was surrounded by a talented, supportive Conference Team and I am grateful that many in the team will walk with me again this year. The calendar in January is quickly filling up with meetings, planning sessions and fellowship so that our work can continue with renewed energy. Remember our PURPOSE to serve women, children and youth. Be ready to lend a hand when asked and do it with joy that we are given the opportunity to serve, in Jesus name. The December issue of RESPONSE has wonderful articles, information of changes coming, ideas for reading programs, a Bible study on Climate Change and much more. Share your knowledge with others! 2019 is full of opportunities to share in fellowship and Mission. Don t miss the opportunity to answer God s Plans for You, HE KNOWS the plans he has for you, listen! I look forward to seeing you at Mission Action Day. Martha Boyer WI Conference President 1

It is much easier this year as I have the template from last year. However, there is always lots of tweaking to be done as addresses change, people change from land line phones to cell phones etc. And then there are the transpositions of numbers as I type all those email, phone and mailing addresses. Oh yes, this has been keeping me quite busy! Hopefully the Yearbook will be completed and already to the printer by the time you get this Newsletter. All Conference and District officers as well as Unit Presidents should receive a Yearbook in the mail by the end of January. (Copies will also be sent to retiring Conference Officers from the last 2 years as well as the Bishop, District Superintendents, Archives, as well as electronic copies to Officers of North Central Jurisdiction & Presidents of other Conferences in our Jurisdiction and the CEO of UMW and President of the National Board). Please note that the Yearbook will also be put on line for you to view on the wisconsinumw.org website under the about tab. You can go to the website and view all the pages that are pertinent to you. Or if you would like a hard copy of the yearbook, you can contact Amy Pigott at Bob s Copy Shop and order 5 books for $25.00 and Amy will send you 5 copies that you can share in your unit. Amy s phone #608-251-2936 or contact her at: amy@bobscopyshop.com Please feel free to contact me about any questions or corrections you may observe that should be noted to make the Yearbook totally accurate. In future editions of Catch the Vision I will note corrections you should make to the Yearbook so that you can keep your Yearbook accurate and up to date. I want to thank the Districts for helping me so much with this Yearbook project. You re the greatest! Josie Gobel Conference Secretary 920-988-0705 josiegobel@charter.net 2

CENSUS 2018 IS UNDERWAY ATTENTION, ATTENTION District and Unit Presidents and Membership Nurture and Outreach Coordinators (MNO)!! Are you working on the Census 2018 yet? The database is open and our DEADLINE to complete membership data entry is MARCH 30TH. Our task is to record online each Wisconsin Conference unit s membership and answer the questions on our United Methodist Women (UMW) National website at this link www.unitedmethodistwomen.org. To access the database CLICK on the LIME GREEN BUTTON labeled Census 2018. In October 2018 I sent the instructions for the task by email to the following District Presidents and District Membership Nurture and Outreach Coordinators (MNOs). Those presidents were: Carol Anderson-North Central, Sandra Klein-North East, Billie Labumbard-North West, Gail Nelson- South East and Laura Pfeffer-South West. The MNOs were Amy Guillaume, Betsy Johnson, Barbara Bender, Gail Bixler (taking office in 2019) and Nancy Beilke. The district presidents were then to send those instructions on to each unit president and membership nurture and outreach coordinator in their district. Did your unit president and/or MNO get their instructions? If you are reading this, please check with your unit president to see if she received the email or a letter from your district president sometime in October, November or before the end of 2018 about our 2018 Census. IF they did not, please contact your district president and ask her to forward the information to your unit president or membership nurture and outreach coordinator. If your 2019 President or MNO has changed please be sure the email is forwarded to the correct person and send me the contact information for your new officer. An instructional video is available at the census link which was developed to answer your data entry questions. If you do not have computer access, work with your district president, district sister assigned to your unit, a friend, someone at your church, or a grandchild to help you fill in the form. I will also be very happy to help you. My contact information is below. SINCE THE QUESTIONS FOR THE 2018 CENSUS ARE DIFFERENT FROM THOSE FOR 2017 BE SURE TO USE THE PDF FORM LINKED TO THE EMAIL OR THE FORM INCLUDED IN THE NOVEMBER ONLINE VERSION OF CATCH THE VISION. NONE OF THE PREVIOUS FORMS HAVE ALL THE QUESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERING. PLEASE ANSWER AS MANY QUESTIONS AS POSSIBLE. I look forward to working with you to complete this important task. As United Methodist Women we bring faith, hope and love to women, children and youth throughout the world. Together for almost 150 years we have been blessed to do God s work. We need you to continue to be part of our Wisconsin Conference and be counted in our community of United Methodist Women. MILK MOOLA ENDS by Judy Vasby I received the following notice from Kwik Trip regarding the end of the Milk Moola program: For the last 15 years, Kwik Trip Inc. has offered the Milk Moola fundraising program to thousands of organizations in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. During that time, we have contributed over $4 million dollars to those organizations. It has been just one of many ways Kwik Trip have given back to the communities. Over the last several months we have been assessing the impact of this fundraising program. In doing so, we discovered that the cost to administer the program has outweighed the dollars Kwik Trip directly funded to help the participants. Because of this, we have made the decision to end the Milk Moola program and reallocate our efforts and donations in a different direction in order to more effectively serve our communities. We want to thank all of you for being part of this program for so many years and are giving you a few months to gather and send your final collections of caps and bag slips. All Milk Moola redemptions will need to be postmarked 3/31/19 to receive payment. Anything after that date will not be processed. Sincerely, Teresa Clark Marketing Project Supervisor Please know that Kwik Trip is offering an alternative fundraising program of selling Kwik Trip scrip gift cards, for which the selling organization will get 5% of the sales. I offer that opportunity to anyone who would like to take that on for the benefit of Harbor House Crisis Shelters. You can check at the Kwik Trip website to get more information. If you have Moola Caps and/or bag slips to turn in, please get/send them to me by Tuesday, March 12, 2019, so that I can bundle them and get/mail them to the Milk Moola redemption center by March 31st. We need to have at least 1000 caps and slips combined in order to receive money. Thanks for your faithfulness in collecting the Moola items through the years. In 2018 we earned $473.95 for Harbor House. Judy Vasby vasby.umw@gmail.com 608-576-0173 4

150th Anniversary of United Methodist Women #Legacy150 #umw150 On March 23, 1869, eight women gathered at Tremont Methodist Episcopal Church in Boston, Massachusetts, and organized the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society, what would become United Methodist Women. Those women raised money to send a doctor, Clara Swain, and a teacher, Isabella Thoburn, to India as missionaries to serve the women of that nation. Celebrate the dedication and foresight of our foremothers in mission as we lead up to our 150th anniversary in 2019. March 23, 2018 has been designated as Day of Giving. This day earmarked for giving to the Legacy Fund, will be matched dollar for every dollar given. Gifts to the Legacy Fund can be made in several ways: Online at unitedmethodistwomen.org/legacyfund By phone: 800-278-7771 (8 am-6pm EST, M-F) Text Legacy150 to 41444 By check: note "Legacy Fund" in memo and mail to: United Methodist Women: Treasurer's Office 15th Floor, 475 Riverside Drive, New York NY 10115. The Legacy Fund was established in 2014 to go through 2019 to fund United Methodist Women into the future. We want to remember the past, pay attention to the present and give hope to our future. We have many ways to honor our faithful members past, present and future. We can celebrate by purchasing a 150 year necklace for $50 plus postage or a Special Recognition Pin for $200 plus postage. Both of these items can be purchased from the United Methodist Women Mission Resource Center. There are four ways to give: Online: unitedmethodistwomen.org/legacy fund Mail: United Methodist Women National Office 475 Riverside Drive 15 th Floor, Attn: LEGACY New York, NY 10115 Text: Text Legacy 150 to 41444 Phone: 212-870-3705 You can also remember UMW in your will. We are overwhelmed with the fact that Women have been in missions sharing their gifts, talents and faith for over 150 years. Thank you God, and be with us as we continue this mission for Women, Children and Youth. The Limitless Youth are developing an end of summer retreat for young women in grades 6 through 12. The retreat will be the weekend of August 23rd through the 25th. We have a weekend booked at Pine Center, a family cabin at Pine Lake. The theme is "Discovering God's Creation". We are planning nature -based activities and a bible study that centers around the environment, working in themes of environmental justice. Because the retreat is at camp, we will also participate in some camp-type activities. Put the date on your calendar and plan to attend!
