Denny Coon I always enjoy attending the Iowa State Fair in August. The problem is the number of other people who also attend. I m good for a few hours and then I need some quiet time. I m an introvert which means I get energy from being by myself. Patty, on the other hand, gets energy from being around people because she s an extrovert. If we were on a cruise ship Patty would know just about everyone on the ship by the end of the trip and I d know maybe five people, maybe. Once we learned this about our personalities we understood each other better. She understood why I needed to go off by myself on a hike and I understood her need to frequently have coffee or lunch with friends. So why did I go into ministry then? Well, I don t like being by myself all the time, in fact I enjoy building relationships with people. I m curious about stories and how faith works in our lives. Patty and I are enjoying getting to know the people of Union Park UMC. We are not sure how long we will be with you but I want us to make the most of our time together. I plan to visit as many of you as I can. If you want to make an appointment to visit me, please call the church. I m good for coffee or lunch. We share in common our United Methodist heritage and bible stories. Let s get together and really get to know each other. Together we will connect as introverts and extroverts. No extended commitment (or robes) required! New Pastor Appointed to UPUMC- Rev. Caesar David Family: Wife, Sumitra (can call her Sumi), is M. A. in Economics and has a diploma in financial management. She is also a Montessori teacher and really enjoys being with / teaching little kids. Son, Reuben is 15. He is just finishing his 10th school year. His favorite subject is history. He loves playing the guitar, mostly fingerstyle.
