Made One by Christ Welcome News for the Good of the Church Prelude Blessed Are Ye Faithful Souls Brahms Choral Call to Worship Opening Prayer *Hymn #667 When Morning Gilds the Skies Clothed by Christ Moment of Silence Corporate Prayer of Confession Nothing can be hidden from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth, whose wisdom is endless, whose mercy is great. Trusting in God s grace, let us confess our sin. ** You are a God of grace and good gifts. Forgive us when we do not recognize Your grace: when we do not hear Your Spirit calling and challenging us. Forgive us when we do not live as people of grace: when we are quick to judgment and slow to compassion. Forgive us when we do not believe the depth of Your grace: when we doubt whether we are good enough to be loved. Forgive us, God of Grace. Wash us. Those who trust in God will renew their strength. They will run and not be weary; they will walk and not grow faint. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God. Sharing of Christ s Peace * Song of Praise, Hymn #633 Praise Ye the Lord (see insert) * Please rise in body and spirit. The hymns are in the burgundy Glory to God hymnal found in the pew racks. ** Words in bold print are spoken aloud as a congregation.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen * Hymn Hearing #115 God s Word of Hope and Power Time with the children First Reading I Corinthians 12:1-11 page 999 Gospel Reading John 2:1-11 page 923 Sermon Saved the Best to Last Rev. Steve Frazier *Hymn #724 Service of Installation O Jesus, I Have Promised Steve: As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Congregation: There is one body and one Spirit, just as we were called to the one hope of our calling. Gail: In baptism, Mary Ann Taylor and Stuart Shippey were clothed with Christ, and are now called by God through the voice of the church to enter into ministries of service and governance, announcing in word and deed the good news of Jesus Christ. Representing the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church, the session of First Presbyterian Church installs to active service those who have been previously ordained: Elder Mary Ann Taylor and Elder Stuart Shippey. Steve: We are all called into the church of Jesus Christ by baptism, and marked as Christ's own by the Holy Spirit. This is our common calling, to be disciples and servants of our servant Lord. Within the community of the church, some are called to particular service as deacons, as elders, and as ministers of the Word and Sacrament. Ordination is Christ's gift to the church, assuring that His ministry continues among us, providing for ministries of caring and compassion in the world, ordering the governance of the church, and preaching the Word and administering the sacraments. We

welcome you again to the service of Jesus Christ in and through the life of First Presbyterian Church. Let us pray: Gracious God, You have called us to be the church of Jesus Christ. You have called forth from among us leaders for us in our common witness. Anoint them with Your Spirit of wisdom and love, that they may have the energy and imagination to lead Your people faithfully, that they may walk in Your ways and live in the light of Your truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Taking Christ s Blessing to the World *Hymn #69 *Charge I, the Lord of Sea and Sky (Here I Am, Lord) *Benediction Postlude Maestoso Selby Here I Am; Send Me I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here I am; Then said I, Send me. God of our lives, whose spirit calls to us, like unto like, to guide our way. Thanks, we give to You, whose love created us, calls us to life and sustains us each day. Your blessings come, each morning new. Your love surrounds us with goodness. Make us aware of Your mercies, Lord. Make of our lives a song of thanksgiving. Tune every heart to sing Your praises. Order our ways, that when we hear Your call, our hearts may answer, joyfully answer, Here am I, send Me!

We see ourselves as the embracing arms of Jesus Christ for each other, for the community, and for the world. Welcome to our friends and visitors! We hope that you find our congregation a welcoming one. Please join us after worship for post-worship fellowship (refreshments and fellowship) in our courtyard lobby.
