~ The Word~ March 16: 1 Timothy 6:6-10 Luke 12:15-21 1 Timothy 6:6 10 6 Of course, there is great gain in godliness combined with contentment; 7 for we brought nothing into the world, so that we can take nothing out of it; 8 but if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these. 9 But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains. Luke 12:15 21 15 And he said to them, "Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions." 16 Then he told them a parable: "The land of a rich man produced abundantly. 17 And he thought to himself, 'What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?' 18 Then he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.' 20 But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' 21 So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God." March 23: Matthew 22:16-21 Luke 21:1-4 Matthew 22:16 21 16 So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are sincere, and teach the way of God in accordance with truth, and show deference to no one; for you do not regard people with partiality. 17 Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to the emperor, or not?" 18 But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, "Why are you putting me to the test, you hypocrites? 19 Show me the coin used for the tax." And they brought him a denarius. 20 Then he said to them, "Whose head is this, and whose title?" 21 They answered, "The emperor's." Then he said to them, "Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperor's, and to God the things that are God's."

Luke 21:1 4 He looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury; 2 he also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. 3 He said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them; 4 for all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on." March 30: Matthew 16:13-20 Matthew 16:13 20 13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" 14 And they said, "Some say John the Baptist, but others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." 15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." 20 Then he sternly ordered the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah. April 6: 1 Peter 2:4-8 1 Peter 2:4 8 4 Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God's sight, and 5 like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For it stands in scripture: "See, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame." 7 To you then who believe, he is precious; but for those who do not believe, "The stone that the builders rejected has become the very head of the corner," 8 and "A stone that makes them stumble, and a rock that makes them fall."

They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. April 13: Philippians 2:5-8 1 Peter 2:21-25 Philippians 2:5 8 5 Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, 8 he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death even death on a cross. 1 Peter 2:21 25 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps. 22 "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." 23 When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were going astray like sheep, but now you have returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.

April 17 ~ Palm Sunday 9:00am ~ Worship with communion and Procession of the palms 10:15am ~ Palm Sunday Breakfast hosted by confirmation class On this joyous Palm Sunday, we are pleased to greet each worshiper and extend a hearty Welcome! Let us be in the same spirit as those who shouted Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! As Jesus entered Jerusalem. April 21 ~ Maundy Thursday 6:00pm ~ Worship Maundy Thursday commemorates the evening just before the crucifixion when Jesus and his friends broke bread together for the Last Supper. It was at this Last Supper that Jesus instituted the Eucharist or what we call communion. We welcome all, in remembrance of Him, to share this Holy Thursday. April 22 ~ Good Friday 6:00pm ~ Worship at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church Good Friday is a day of terrible suffering and sacrifice, a day of crucifixion. We invite you to join hearts and hands in remembrance of Him who bore his crown of thorns willingly, arose from the dead, and defeated death that we might have eternal life. April 4 ~ Easter Sunday 6:30am ~ Sunrise Worship at the Upper Church 9:00am ~ Easter Worship at the Lower Church The Lord is risen! Hallelujah! On Easter Sunday, we celebrate the foundation of our faith: the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is with exceeding joy that we welcome all who come to recall Christ s victory over sin and death. Rejoice, dear friends!
