Ministering Before the Ark

Worship on Earth as it is in Heaven

KING DAVID He was a good king He has a heart for God He wanted to bring the ark of the LORD back to Jerusalem

KING DAVID After the disaster with Uzzah (2 Sam 6:7) David became angry (2 Sam 6:8) David was afraid of the Lord (2 Sam 6:9) Had the ark taken into Obed-Edom s house And went home and sulked

A SIGNIFICANT THREE MONTHS David had a comprehensive plan to put 38,000 Levites to work (Exo 40; Num 3-5) -Ministers -Gatekeepers -Officers -Instructors - Judges -Teachers -Guardians -4,000 musicians -288 singers He knew who the eight Levites were that were supposed to carry the ark He knew what he was to wear to bring the ark in He knew specific duties of the Levites stationed at the tabernacle

Pretty good organizational skills for a man whose resume only included things like sheep herder, fugitive, and part time bodyguard to a Philistine king.

WHAT HAPPENED? David entered a New Testament realm He entered into the apostolic the government of God on earth a New Testament gift When he wore the kingly robes and the priest s ephod, he entered into the order of Melchizedek Ps 110:4 You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek

David understood the priestly order of Melchizedek a New Testament reality This was all illegal in the Old Testament kings were kings and priests were priests God was going to use David to prototype New Testament worship

SO He called his prophets, Nathan and Gad 2 Chron 29:25 He (Hezekiah) stationed the Levites in the temple of the LORD with cymbals, harps and lyres in the way prescribed by David and Gad the King s seer and Nathan the prophet; this was commanded by the LORD through his prophets. They got the plan Acts 13:21-22 He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.

THIS WAS THE PLAN No rituals just like heaven, but illegal on earth No animal sacrifices No brazen altar No lampstands Only the sacrifices of praise

No veil just like in heaven, but illegal on earth Face to face worship If this was not God s directive, it was going to end badly Nadab and Abihu illegally came before the Lord and were consumed by fire (Lev 10:1-2) King Uzziah tried something illegal in the temple with bad results leprosy (2 Chron 26:20)

WHAT WAS HAPPENING HERE? God was brining the worship of heaven into the earth And establishing a prototype for New Testament worship Ps 78:68 but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loved. He built his sanctuary like the heights, It was continual just like in heaven It was intercessory just like in heaven It was prophetic just like in heaven It was spontaneous and dynamic just like in heaven It was warring just like in heaven God interacted with their praise just like in heaven

THEN IT ALL ENDED. David died Solomon built the temple The season for the tabernacle was over God had to get everyone back to the Old Testament They came in a procession to take the ark from Zion to the new Temple No one protested David s tabernacle was abandoned Amos 9:11 In that day I will restore David s fallen tent.

FOR THE LAST 2,000 YEARS GOD HAS BEEN DOING THAT VERY THING I will restore David s fallen tent I will repair its broken places Much was broken over the centuries And restore its ruins The dark ages left it in ruins

And build it as it used to be the worship of heaven Prophetic Intercessory Warring Spontaneous Dynamic

AND HERE IS WHY So that they may possess the remnant of Edom And all the nations that bear my name. When David built his tabernacle, they possessed all the lands God had promised Abraham

CHALLENGE FOR US TODAY Worship is not about how we feel It s not about what style. Determined to worship regardless because it s all about the heart It is about bringing God s government on earth (Apostolic worship)
