Alhamdulillah the children have settled into their classes nicely. We have started our assembly, where we recite: Fatiha, Ikhlas,, Falaq, Nas and Ayatul Kursi along with the 99 Names of Allah. Additionally, we have many students who have presented projects this month. Masha Allah we learned so much. The children enjoyed Souq al Jannah. Alhamdulillah it was very successful and the children enjoyed spending all their points to buy wonderful prizes. The children are given points based on behavior and progress. We had a fantastic turn out for our conferences, the teachers were very happy to meet with you all. We would also like to thank parents for donating so many delicious items to our first bake sale, masha Allah it was a great success because of all of you. 1
Gratitude (shukr) is about expressing thanks and appreciation to those who do any favor to us. Allah has bestowed on us the nature to be grateful and we should thus express that gratitude not just to Allah but to the people whom we deal with as well. In many places in the Quran, Allah divides people as being grateful and as ungrateful to motivate us to join the camp of those who are grateful. In one of such verses, Prophet Sulaiman said, as stated in the Quran,... then when (Sulaiman (Solomon)) saw it placed before him, he said: This is by the Grace of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! And whoever is grateful, truly, his gratitude is for (the good of) his own self, and whoever is ungrateful, (he is ungrateful only for the loss of his own self). Certainly! My Lord is Rich (Free of all wants), Bountiful [An-Naml: 40] IN FOCUS: ASMA UL-HUSNA THE PARDONER AL-AFUW { If [instead] you show [some] good or conceal it or pardon an offense indeed, Allah is ever Pardoning and Competent.(Surat An-Nisa 4:149) Al-Afu is the One Who erases sins and disregards acts of disobedience. 2
Guard strictly your (habit of) prayers, especially the Middle Prayer; and stand before Allah in a devout (frame of mind). Surah Baqarah Ayah 238 The Importance of Salah During assembly, we have been focusing on perfecting our Salah, including the wudu. We are all aware as Muslims the importance of Salah in our everyday lives. Salah wipes out our sins: Prophet Muhammad (SAW) once asked his companions Tell me if there was a river at the door step of one of you in which you washed 5 times a day would any of your dirt remain? When he received the reply that none of it would remain he then said That is like the 5 times Salah, with which Allah (SWT) wipes out sin. We had two wonderful students, Esraa and Soad, who had a presentation on Salah, which clarified many common mistakes children usually do. As well as how to have khushoo during the salah, since we meet Allah (swt) the Greatist in each salah. The girls also discussed how to be pure and clean as well as how to dress for the prayer. Establishing Salah Develops Taqwa (Fear and Awareness of Allah) Salah Is the Sign of a Believer. Establishing Salah Leads to Allah s Eternal Blessings Those Who Pray Shall Have Nothing to Fear on the Day of Judgment. Remain in Allah s remembrance after prayer. Regarding Punctuality of Prayer. Prayer Protects Against Evils. Friendship Should Be with Those Who Pray. 3
