Parish News The Assumption Family would like to thank Father Athanasios Nenes for his many years of dedicated service to our beautiful Parish. We wish him the best in his future appointment at the Taxiarchae Parish of Watertown, Massachusetts effective January 15, 2015. Father Athanasios will be missed. Please see attached letter from the Metropolitan Methodios of Boston. The Parish would like to thank, Costa Georgopoulos, Dean Kacos and Tasos Karatzoulidis for serving many years on the Parish Council. Costa Georgopoulos has served as President for the last three years and has been a member of the Parish Council in different capacities for many years. He was a recipient of the Laity Award in 2003 which recognizes individuals who give of their time and talents in an exceptional way. He has chaired Greekfest, our Parish s 75 th Anniversary and has helped tirelessly with many of our fundraisers. Dean Kacos has served as Vice President and has been a member of the Parish Council for several years. He has chaired Greekfest and has given his time and talents on several committees. Tasos Karatzoulidis has served on the Parish Council for several years. He has chaired the Stewardship Committee, was involved with the church bulletin and has given his time and talents with many of our fundraisers. The Assumption Family thanks each one of you for your commitment and we hope that you will continue to be involved with the many needs of our church. Parish Council On December 7 th the Parish held its annual elections and we would like to congratulate Penny Papastathis, Mike Rokas and Teddy Rokas for continuing to give of their time and talents. These Parish Council members will participate in the swearing in which will be held on January 11 th along with James Folopoulos, Nikolas Karagianis, Peter Lazos, Charles Mardanes, Vasilios Palaskas and Louie Pliakos. The elections for Parish Council officers will be held on Sunday, January 11 th. The monthly Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday, January 19 th at 7:00pm. 4
Philoptochos The January Philoptochos Meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 14 th in the church hall at 6:00 p.m. Any current member in good standing is invited to attend. We will be discussing our Valentine s coffee hour the Sunday before Valentine s Day, and the next event which will be our bake sale just before Western Easter. New Horizons Soup Kitchen We ask you to bring three important things with you: a willingness to work hard, an open and positive attitude, and a smile! We can promise you that you will work hard, have some fun, and learn a great deal about yourself and your fellow human beings. We need approximately 12 servers each time we volunteer. If interested, please contact Stephanie Piet at 315-5026. Please volunteer with us on the fourth Sunday of every month. Join us, you will not be disappointed!!! Youth News Happy New Year to all of our children!! All of us here in the Youth Ministry want to wish you a very Happy and Healthy New Year!! Sunday School - Enjoy your Christmas break and we will see you on Sunday, January 4 th, 2015. Greek School - We will see you all on January 8 th, 2015. JOY - You re invited to JOYN us for our sledding event on Sunday, January 11 th following the Liturgy behind the youth center. Bundle up, bring your sled, and get ready for some fun!!! GOYA - Our next meeting will be on Sunday, January 18 th immediately following the Divine Liturgy in the church hall. We hope to see everyone there. George Tzimopoulos Memorial Raffle The George Tzimopoulos Memorial Raffle was held on Sunday, December 7 th. The event was a huge success!! We would like to thank the George Tzimopoulos family, the vendors who contributed for the luncheon and all the ticket holders for their support of one of our most significant fundraisers of the year. 5

9 BUSINESS CARD ADVERTISING Anyone with a business that would like to advertise in our monthly bulletin, please contact the Church office. A business card format, about 2 ½ x 1 ½ will run for a period of 12 months for one set fee of $150.00 a year. This will help to defray the ever-increasing costs of printing and mailing these bulletins to our homes as well as advertising your business to our parishioners and through word of mouth, to their friends. This is a great opportunity for all!
