The church calendar doesn t have much on it. I did receive a phone call in May that Rev. John Reinke, a minister to the deaf, would be coming through north Texas on Sunday the 11 th and I asked him to be with us for the service that Sunday. He will lead a combined Bible Class in the sanctuary and preach for us that Sunday. We will also have a free will offering to help support deaf ministry in the Missouri Synod. So that is something to look forward too. Some will begin their summer vacations; others will just go about their business. Teenagers will work their summer jobs and others will just continue life as usual, the only difference is that it is hotter than normal, and due to the heat, we really just don t feel like doing much. And if we feel up to it, we might take ourselves and our children to church, if not, everyone understands, it s just the dog days of summer. It s just too hot to do much else. Don t let yourselves fall into that trap of the devil! Aren t you glad that God doesn t take the summer off? God the Father still sustains our earth. Our sins are still forgiven for the sake of Christ our Savior and the Holy Spirit is still active in our lives. Vacations are nice, but there are still those who don t know the name of their Savior, thus they don t call upon His name for the forgiveness of their sins. There is still the matter of our own brothers and sisters in Christ who need prayerful support as they go through family problems and dealing with the loss of a loved one. If you take the rest of the summer off, will you know of their troubles and be available to help them as a Christian should? Something to think about. I look forward to seeing you in church during the rest of the summer and on through the rest of the summer as the next school year starts. Don t allow the devil to use summertime as an excuse to not bring your children and grandchildren into God s house. That is your duty as the spiritual heads of the household. Let s gird our loins and sweat out the rest of the summer not forgetting to follow Christ s Great Commission in the meantime. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV) I do want to thank everyone for allowing me to have the time with my family for Emmie s graduation. We will be taking our regular vacation at the end of July with a family vacation in Galveston. In His hands, Pastor K.

The Key to St. Peter Page 2 Divine Call As of the printing of this newsletter, I have received a Divine Call to serve as the pastor of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim Texas. I wanted to let everyone know that this call was not solicited by me or anyone in my family. As per standard procedure in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, after a congregation completes a survey of their needs, names may be submitted by the congregation and also compiled by the Texas District office in Austin. The District President, or his representative, goes over the list before it is sent to the congregation. An individual pastor can ask the District President to keep his name in mind for future calls, but again, I did not do this because I feel that it interferes with the Holy Spirit. A pastor is usually notified when his name enters into consideration and he is asked whether he is open to consider a call. Unless there is a significant reason such as short time in the parish, in the midst of a congregational conflict, or a major building program, pastors are expected to prayerfully consider a Call since the Call comes from the Holy Spirit. In the past, I have been under consideration twice, but in both of those situations, it was deemed that I should be removed from the list. Since I had no significant reasons to deny consideration this time, I replied that I would be able to prayerfully consider the call to Manheim. It is normal to return an answer to the calling congregation within a month of receiving it and I hope to have received the Holy Spirit s guidance within that time. I plan on notifying both congregations of my answer by June 18. If I have not received clear direction from the Holy Spirit by that time, I will further deliberate. The consideration of this Call is not an easy thing for me to do. I love and consider all of you my family and as I said when I announced the call on May 28 th, I have no reason or desire to leave St Peter however, I will do my best to follow the Holy Spirit s guidance and seek to do God s will for the furtherance of His kingdom.. Again, I ask for your prayers during this time as I continue to deliberate and seek the Holy Spirit s direction. It is, as always, in His hands, Pastor Knobloch
