Matthew 28: 19-20 Letter from Rev d Kathy Flynn Life Explored Action For Children Rotas Film Club For those of you who have not yet met me my name is Rev Kathy Flynn. I came to join you in your ministry in September 2017. For Ministers as with churches, the stationing process is one of prayerful discernment. I knew when I read the profile for the Purley Circuit with all my heart that God was calling me to serve with you all. That said, the journey has not been an easy start. On a personal note, my little dog who moved with me died in October. My little dog was a big part of my own Christian discipleship but that story is for another time. My tenant moved out of my property in Southport and has not left it in good repair. We begin a new year with fresh hopes and optimism, just as expressed in this uplifting poem by Iris Hesselden. I send very best wishes to you all for 2018! Jane Ede. TODAY is all about life, Today is all about living, It's catching the sunshine and seizing the day And sometimes forgetting, forgiving. Today is all about you, The you that is hidden within, A time to look forward and nurture your dreams And let those Ambitions begin. Today is all about love, To comfort the hurt and the strife, Reach out to each other, Sister and Brother, It's time now to celebrate life! CHRISTIAN AID 2018. During the month of May we will be raising money for the annual Christian Aid appeal, so we must decide what to do, then make plans. (You may recall that it was decided at the last Church Council meeting that we would not continue with the traditional envelope scheme this year.) Please give this matter some careful thought and let me know your suggestions, preferably before the next Church Council meeting on 12th March. May the best suggestion become the greatest success! Jane Ede. At the manse, the oven broke, the shower flooded the office and I am sitting waiting for workmen to repair the heating. So why am I sharing all this with you? Life can throw at us stuff that is painful, hard and at times overwhelming, there may be moments where we feel as though we are limping through our discipleship, our call, but remember the powerful words of Jesus And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. So, I urge you to remember our Covenant prayer, be faithful in prayer and discipleship for our Lord Jesus is indeed with us. During all of this God has given me opportunities to share his love in unexpected ways and unexpected places, affirming my discernment of being called here. When I have felt weak, heartbroken, not sure where to turn, He has been right there showing His love, His care, giving me His strength. So keep running the race, sharing His Gospel where it will be received. May God bless you greatly for His Kingdom. Rev Kathy 10 3
