2 Hymn: When the Summer Sun is Shining (Tune: Hyfrydol VU #333) When the summer sun is shining over golden land and sea, and the flowers in the garden welcome butterfly and bee, then my open heart is glowing, full of warmth for everyone, and I feel an inner beauty which reflects the summer sun. When the summer clouds of thunder bring the long awaited rain, and the thirsty soil is moistened and the grass is green again; then I long for summer sunshine, but I know that clouds and tears are a part of life's refreshment, like the rainbow's hopes and fears. In the cool of summer evening, when the dancing insects play, and in garden, street, and meadow linger echoes of the day; then my heart is full of yearning; hopes and mem'ries flood the whole of my being, reaching inwards to the corners of my soul. S H Knight (SLT) Singing the Living Tradition. 1993. Boston: UUA. Invitation: One: Glory and power are strange words for us not many of us experience much glory or power in our lives. So we stretch our minds and hearts to understand the power and glory of God. Where do we see power God?
3 All: We see power, God, in the power of love in the power of friendship in the power of voices lifted up in a cry for justice in the power of the open minds and open hearts. One: Where do we see glory God? All: We see glory, God, In the glory of a summer sunrise and sunset In the glory of children with popsicle-stained mouths In the glory of voices raised in song In the glory of people gathered at Sabbath service. Welcome Gathering Prayer: Encircle and embrace us, Loving Spirit, and visit us in the small spaces and tender points of our living. Splash summertime surprises all along our paths and may we have the grace to see them and say thank-you. Pour music and warm hymns through the fields and tree-tops and may the glory of creation splash in the rivers and beaches and dance in our fields. O present one, you are here, we are here, may we feel your ever encircling love this summer day and always. Amen. The Prayer of Jesus Gift of Music: Precious Memories Smith Family Minute for Mission
