Confirmation Meeting There will be a meeting for the Confirmation students and their parents from the three parishes. The meeting will be Sunday, January 22 at St. Luke s at noon, following the 11:00 AM Mass. We will be discussing the schedule for the day of Confirmation, sponsors, etc. R.C.I.A. - R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) classes will be starting in January 2017 and running through May 2018. This is for anyone that would like to consider joining the Catholic Church. Reception into the church would take place Easter of 2018. It is also a great opportunity for existing Catholics to brush up on their faith if so desired. Healing Mass There will be a Healing Mass at St. Luke s on Friday, January 20. Confessions and Eucharist Adoration begin at 6:00pm, Mass will be celebrated at 7:00pm followed by the opportunity for prayers for individual needs (yours or you can request them for someone else by proxy) and then food and fellowship in the parish hall. Join us for a Spirit-filled evening through the energy and healing touch of the Holy Spirit through Adoration, Confession, the Mass, prayers and music. St. Luke's Adult Ed - St. Luke's adult ed group will be studying the book of Revelation, from the Great Adventure series presented by Jeff Cavins. We will begin on Sunday, January 29th at 9:00 AM. Please sign up using the sheet on the office window so we know how many study sets to order. Scholarships are available. Some parishioners already have the study set; if you want to participate again, please put the letters N S after your name. Thanks; we look forward to an exciting chance understand this complex work from St. John and hope you will take part with us. Coffee & Donuts There is signup sheet on St. Luke s office window for helping with Coffee and Donuts on the first Sunday of each month. We need people to pick up the donuts and juice from IGA (the parish pays for them), serve after the 11:00 AM Mass and clean up. Call Marcia at 467-4855 with any questions. Newman Center Meals The students have returned to campus for the spring semester and they are looking forward to the best meal of the week at the Newman Center. We would like to continue to offer the students a home cooked meal on Thursday evenings. They eat about 6:00 PM and last semester we had 10 12 students each week. Marcia will call the cook of the week with the number of RSVP s. The signup sheet is on the St. Luke office window. Catholic Women's League - On Monday, January 16, 2017 a Mass for deceased Members of Catholic Women's League will be said at 8:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle, 904E. Lake Ave, Peoria Heights. The rosary will be said after Mass. This is the first time we've had a Mass said for our deceased members! All are invited. Right To Life Thursday, January 19, a vigil walk around the federal courthouse starts at 6:30 pm at Riverside Church, 207 NE Monroe Street, Peoria. The Sanctity of Human Life Rally will follow at 7:00 PM at Riverside Church. The rally will feature special music and prayer along with reports on local Pro-Life efforts. Knights of Columbus #3060 (Metamora) - Wednesday, January 25th, 2017. Membership Meeting at the Flame Restaurant in the private banquet Room. A light meal is provided for members and is served at 6:15 pm. Meeting to start at 6:45 pm. Pizza and Movie Night - Morton Blessed Sacrament Marriage Ministry Team is offering a Pizza and Movie night, Saturday, January 28. Pizza will be at 6:00 PM and the movie will be at 6:30. The movie will be War Room, from the same directors as Fireproof and Courageous. The film follows Tony and Elizabeth Jordan, a middle-class couple who seemingly have it all great jobs, a beautiful daughter, their dream home. But appearances can be deceiving. In reality, the Jordan s marriage has become a war zone and their daughter is collateral damage. With the help of Miss Clara, an older, wiser woman, Elizabeth discovers she can start fighting for her family instead of against them. Consider sharing with the needy in our community through Catholic Charities St. Joseph s Furniture Bank. Items being accepted include working appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, and furniture of all types such as dressers, sofas, and tables and chairs. They are also collecting blankets (new only please), twin through king size, to help during the cold winter months to come.
