Newsletter articles DUE for October s Walk Way September, 20, 2017. PLEASE DON T BE LATE!!! Please send articles in MSWord Document! (TY) Pilgrim Application deadline is September 9, 2017 at the Gathering I just cannot believe where summer went. Fall is upon us and that means that the Fall Walks will soon be starting. We have a great need for Pilgrims for both the Men and the Women s Walks. If you have someone that you have been talking to and praying over for these Walks, now is the time to get those applications in. Please do not let money stand in the way. God is calling these men and women and using you as a tool to make it happen. By the time you receive this article the 25 th Anniversary will have taken place. The Eastern Shore Emmaus community has experienced an amazing 25 years. We have come a long way from the first Walk of ES #1 that was held at OOTB in the Fall of 1992. The first weekend was attended by 20 pilgrims and 31 team members. Since then we must look at the success that we have enjoyed, 103 God centered Walks have taken place. Over 3200 pilgrims have experienced God in an intimate way. Over 3900 teaming experiences. We have some Teamers that have teamed over 20+ times. (true warriors in Christ) Over 1,400 Friday nights of Teaming preparation. We as a community can step back and say that Emmaus has been a tremendous success for the churches of the Eastern Shore. BUT! We cannot and must not stop here. God knows the plans that He has for you and our community. He is not done with us! I will leave you with this thought that is in the song Here I am Lord Here I am Lord. It is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You send me. I will hold your people in my heart. The future of the Eastern Shore Emmaus lays in our hands. God is calling, will you answer His call? Rex Mayfield Community Lay Director

Page 2 A Message From Our Spiritual Director Be Still Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalms 46:10 As we watched with aching hearts and tears the horror and devastating destruction cause by Hurricane Harvey we can t help but cry out for Mercy for those in Texas and neighboring states. Through the images shone on TV, the stories of devastation and as we sit and view on all that is happening we are reminded of David s word in the Psalms Be still and know that I am God. The question is asked, how can we be still in the in the middle of so much sorrow, so much destruction so much loss? God speaks again, and says. Be still and know that I am God. Stop pushing. Be still. Stop fretting. Be still. Stop prancing and strutting. Be still. There is another world all around us, but noise and movement prevent us from entering it. There is another world all around but we allow so many other things of this world to keep us out of it. There is a world of the Spirit where mercy lives and hope walks and peace presides and prayer breathes. The Scriptures tell us that the same God who watched over Job as he endured one loss after another is the same God that will watch over those that are victims of Hurricane Harvey. We can meditate on the words of Gary L Baugh. He wrote Hope forces us onward when we feel like giving up. It gives us ability to stand the stress and strain of everyday life. It creates joy in the midst of sorrow and grief, and it also reminds us that God is STILL in control. De Colores! Pastor Dave

Page 3 Eastern Shore Chrysalis Fly With Christ! In the past recent months, I have been painfully reminded that our time here on this earth is temporary and it can end without any warning; whether we are ready or not. As Christians, we are instructed to live each day honoring, glorifying, and serving our Lord. We need to be right with God. We may think ok I know that and I m good. But are we really? Do we get upset or frustrated or angry with those around us from time to time? Do we get stressed out, overworked, and focused on earthly things too frequently? Think back to just in the past week did some of these situations occur? They did for me. What if God chose one of these frustrating stressful angry moments as the time we would leave this earth? Our last impression on those around us, family and strangers, would probably not be what we want to be remembered by. So, we truly must live our lives loving, giving, serving, forgiving, showing mercy and grace, compassionate, and sympathetic at ALL times. These are good things but we are also commanded to tell everyone about Jesus to build the kingdom of God. God may be disappointed in us for not sharing His love with others when we can but this command is not really about us, is it? It is about those around us that do not accept Jesus as their personal Savior. The reason can vary why not but we are called to be the spokesman for Christ. When I received a call to come home on that rainy Friday in May my mind automatically went to my mom; something had happened to my momma. But as I drove home wondering what tragic news awaited me my mind started going all over the place. Mainly to my eldest son. I knew my mom s relationship with her Jesus was very strong so I knew when she passed she would be with Him. But I did not have that same thought about my son. Although, raised in the church and knowing Jesus as a child and young adult, he had since turned his back on God and the church. His relationship with Jesus did not develop. I found myself praying very hard for God to give me more time to bring my son back to Him. Please God not my son. Please give me more time on him. My prayers were answered and I do have more time to work on my son. But I also know that time could run out for him too. As I share my heart with you I pray we all can see the urgency of what we should be doing daily. Sharing the forgiveness of God and His love for us through His son Jesus Christ. I do not believe I am the one that can bring my son to Christ; he has put up that wall with me. However, I pray daily for my son and his family. Who knows, maybe one of you reading this could be who God plans to use to bring him back. Perhaps I m the one that God has purposed to bring back your prodigal child. Every non-believer is someone s child. Let s keep the non-believers prayed up and keep ourselves opened to God s plan for us. Have we been lax in being the fishers of men we are called to be? We all have stories. And as Christians our stories are full of what God has done in us and for us when there seemed no hope. We are being called to share God through those stories. Who can you share your story with today? Whose prodigal child needs to hear your story? As of now we have not received any caterpillar applications for the November flight. Please keep Chrysalis in prayer. Our next board meeting is September 19 th at 7 pm at Mears UMC in Keller. All are welcomed to attend to share ideas and be a part of helping make a difference in the lives of our youth. Our flights are for 15-18 years old. Page 6 To the Eastern Shore Emmaus Community Brothers and Sisters in Christ! Spread the word! It has been 25 years since Emmaus began on the Shore. God has showered His blessings on our community. We have felt His presence on all of the 103 Walks that have taken place since 1992. Let's celebrate and praise Him in a mighty way on September 9, 2017 at Franktown UMC, in Franktown, VA beginning at 4 p.m. There will be music, a parade of banners of Walks since 2012, speakers and a covered-dish meal. Please remember to bring a covered dish to share and maybe a little extra to insure we have enough food for everyone! Blessings to each of you! Pat Krukowski, Committee Chair SPONSORSHIP CORNER! The teams are formed, teaming has started, prayers continue...now is the time to approach those on your heart to attend the weekend, please don't wait till the last moment! De Colores! John Sutton

Page 7 Prayer Chain As the teaming processes for our fall walks are now in full swing I hope that you will join me in praying for God to move in a mighty and powerful way as we prepare for these weekends. We know that the Lord will make a way for each individual that He has called to be there, and that He will bless and enrich each life in a wondrous way because of their obedience to his will. As always, our chief priority in this and all thing is to glorify, exalt and lift up the name of Jesus. While you join me in that prayer, I d like to remind each of you about the Emmaus Prayer Team.
