October Adult Education The Symposium: Our Story The Hall of History The story of the Jewish people, our story, tells the story of the world. By studying the major memories, moments, and movements of the Jewish people we can come to know ourselves and envision our future. We will experience the incredible Hall of History in our Jewish Learning Center 200 feet of murals displaying hundreds of archival, museum quality photos, maps, and documents. We will trace the story of the Jewish people from the creation of the world to creation of the modern State of Israel, and everything in between. As always, our Symposium will be taught by some of Chicagoland s leading rabbis and teachers, along with our own BJBE clergy. This will give women who have been assaulted new clothing items since their old clothes are kept at police stations for evidence. Nurture our Northshore Neighbors Help children get the food they need There are families right here in our community that are struggling to get enough food at each meal. BJBE is joining with other area synagogues, churches and community groups to support the Moraine Township Monthly Food Bag program. Each month during the school year, students who qualify for free or reduced lunch will receive a grocery bag filled with non-perishable items and supplemented with fresh produce. Perfect for volunteers of all ages families with young children, B nai Mitzvah students, chavurah groups, etc. Each month's sponsor will provide food to 5 families in need. Sponsors can be an individual, a family, or a group and you can volunteer once or on multiple occasions. The Moraine Township Food Pantry will supply a list of specific food items and sponsors will shop and then deliver the food to the Food Pantry. Your total monetary commitment for one shopping trip to benefit 5 families is approximately $100. Volunteers are needed for multiple dates throughout the school year.
