Your Financial Stewardship For the week ended October 14, 2018 Weekly Envelopes... $ 21,402.00 Offertory Loose... $ Weekly Joyful Giving Budget... $ 1,591.00 23,363.00 You have a great opportunity to attend a night of inspiring music and prayer this Monday. Jacob Rudd, the first youth minister under my time here at, will be returning to offer a concert in the church on Monday October 22, at 6:30pm. He will start with a simple rosary if anyone would like to pray it with him and then the music will begin about 6:45pm, immediately after the rosary. You may remember Jake is a very talented and spirited musician. He has played at some of our Masses in the past. Exceptional. He plays the guitar, sings his own written music and conducts the night in a moving and very inspiring fashion. He recently led our confirmation students through a night of music and adoration and the parents responded that it was one of the most calming, prayerful and relaxing nights they had ever attended. Not bad. There is no fee, just come to the church and settle in, there will be a free will offering if you would like. Jake is married now with children and will soon be heading off on mission again with his family. Pray for them. Next week are the great feast days of All Saint s Day on Thursday November 1, and All Soul s Day on Friday November 2. Thursday November 1, is a Holy Day of Obligation, so plan ahead. An All Saints Day Vigil Mass will be offered on Wednesday night October 31 at 5:30pm. On All Saints Day Thursday November 1, we will offer Mass at 8:45am, a 10:15am School Mass, and then again at 5:30pm that night. These days are worthy reminders of the life to come. All Saints Day honors those Saints who are fully declared to be with God in heaven and whose lives are lifted up for us as worthy of veneration. Our Saint relics in the chapel are special patrons to our parish and I would encourage you to pause and pray near them, asking their intercession for things on your heart. It is reasonable to believe that there are many saints in heaven whose names we do not know. All Soul s Day, Friday November 2, is for all those who are still entering into the fullness of communion with God and who still need our prayers. It is not a Holy Day of Obligation. We will have an 8:45am morning Mass and then a special 5:30pm Memorial Mass with remembrance of those from our parish who have passed away in the past year. Their names will be read. God invites us as members of the mystical body of Christ to join in his work of final purification of these saved souls by our prayers for them and especially by our offering of Mass for them. Please pray for all those who mourn the loss of a loved one. One day, every tear shall be wiped away, and we shall see God as he truly is. Fr. Mark Vander Steeg

October 20 & 21, 2018 PAGE 3 The 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. (MARK 10:45) If you held a mirror up to your life, would it reflect God s love and mercy? If you are struggling with this try changing your attitude from I want more to thank you God for everything you have given me, I have enough to share. This change in perspective will bring you joy through service to others. Religious Education News Adam Horn-R.E.
