February 2014 Great Smoky Mountain Emmaus, Chrysalis, and Journey Community Pilgrims? Has anyone seen any pilgrims? URGENT!!!!! TO ALL EMMAUS COMMUNITY MEMBERS!!!!!!! God has so blessed each and every one of us when we experienced his love on our walks to Emmaus! An even bigger blessing we have as members of this great community is to share this experience with others. The holiday season is such a busy time for all of us, time flies by, and before we know it the New Year is upon us. Well now January is gone! Can you believe it!!! With spring coming, we now are quickly approaching our 12 pilgrim deadline for walk 97, yes it s here! It is URGENT that you connect
with those from your walks you have been on, and those who you have considered potential pilgrims. Feel free to call on me or any other board members for any assistance we can provide. The team has been meeting and is convinced our LORD will once again deliver an amazing weekend for these yet unnamed pilgrims. As I write this note we have ZERO applications for walk 97. If we don't have 12 applications in hand by February 14th there will be no walk. It s up to each and every one of us to insure this does not happen!!! Update from Chrysalis We are excited to have Paula Sarver as our new Community Lay Director for Chrysalis. We are blessed to have had Becky and Herb Piercy in this position for many wonderful years. We appreciate their continued dedication to Chrysalis and leading young people to be leaders in the local churches and into a deeper relationship with Christ. Becky and Herb are true examples of Christian Action! The Chrysalis board members joined the Emmaus board for a training session on January 11th. Chrysalis is fortunate to be connected to the Emmaus community and commit to hosting incredible life changing weekends as God s hands and feet. We hope to have more opportunities to work together as followers of Christ! During Resurrection 2014, many members of the Chrysalis community handed out free Bibles to the participants of this event. God is always present during Resurrection and the Chrysalis community is blessed to help witness and support the youth during Resurrection. (cont.)
Chrysalis has been busy preparing for the upcoming Flight. The Chrysalis Flight is February 15-17 th. The lay directors are Sandy Daniels and Brad McBride. The team meetings have been blessed and productive and we know that God is planning an amazing Flight! Set up will begin on Friday, February 14 th at 6:00pm. Caterpillars will arrive on Saturday morning at 8 am. We need all the people we can get to help send off this Flight! We also need help getting mattress and luggage out of the Sunday School rooms for church on Sunday morning. We could also use help with takedown on Monday morning and afternoon. PROCESSION OF PILGRIMS Men's agape team for spring: 1 experienced agape team member needed for men's spring walk, March 13- March 16. Responsibilities include general agape team duties + delegating a team of volunteers, and getting each person acclimated to the tasks of the agape team. Blessings for the New Year I choose to initiate God s promises and blessings for my life in the New Year by declaring them as true. He is the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were (Romans 4:17, NIV). The power in a blessing is in speaking it! Because I believe that God has more wonderful things planned for me than I can even imagine (Ephesians 3:20) for the coming year, today I declare that: I am blessed with God s divine purpose and perfect plan for my life. I am blessed with gifts, God-given abilities and guidance. I am blessed with strength of character, self-determination and self-control. I am blessed with family and friends, faith and freedom. I am blessed with health, happiness, favor and fulfillment. I am blessed with promotion, protection, prosperity and provision.
