Planning Meetings Everyone is invited to our next planning meeting at St. Paul Parish Center. Next court meeting: January 19, 2018, 9AM Regent s Remarks By this time, we may have put Christmas season behind us, the decorations are packed away, and the New Year s resolutions made and perhaps already forgotten? The holiday season seems over, and we are left with ordinary cold winter days. I recently heard a song, entitled The Gift, and it helped me to think about keeping Christmas alive inside. I offer the lyrics here for your reflection: --Suzanne He was born in Bethlehem they say, There was a star to light the path to where He lay. Rich or poor they came from far and near, Cause they'd all heard the reason He was here. He was the Son God sent to one and all. Put on this earth to hang there on that cross. Born to die so we could live. He had the birthday, we got the gift. They wrapped him up with gentle hands. God hoped the world would understand. Eternal life we shall receive. And all that He asks in return is that we just believe. PS. If you still have room on your New Year s resolution list, make it a point to participate in one the Court s spring events or meetings. So, whatever you do, Do everything for the greater Glory of God (I Cor 31) 1

In My Shoes Visit At our October court meeting, Jane Koenecke gave a presentation on the expectant mother s residence being sponsored by the In My Shoes organization. We chose this group for our Christmas project after learning that the mothers could use blankets and make-up. Thank you to everyone who has helped make blankets. At our Christmas luncheon, we collected donations for the makeup bags which have been created for us by Mary Kay consultant, Nenita. On January 27, Jane Koenecke will accompany us on a visit to the residence. We will conclude our visit by having dinner with the mothers. Jane will provide the entrée. We will discuss details at our meeting on rounding out the meal. The residence has asked that we carpool; we plan to leave St. Paul at 3:15 PM and be back in Richardson by 7 PM. RSVP is required in order to plan the carpool. We ll be collecting RSVPs at the court meeting and a Flocknote will be sent out for those who would like to RSVP online. Happy Birthday to CDA Sisters Please see the Court website for upcoming birthdays. Send those sisters your greetings. 2
Heroic Media Pro-Life Luncheon The Heroic Media mission is to connect expectant mothers with resources to encourage them to keep their babies. They are using technology by purchasing Google ads in major cities across the United States. Last year Pro-Life Chair, Pattie Mix attended along with other individual Catholic Daughters. The event was very well done and was organized to counter a similar event being held by Planned Parenthood. This year our court has a table reserved so we can sit together. The cost to attend is FREE; donations will be solicited at the event. We are required to send in the names of those attending, so RSVPs will be needed. We ll make it as easy as possible. A Flocknote will be sent out soon where to RSVP. Carpooling will be available. See flyer below. For questions, contact Patti Mix. 3
Multi-District Meeting January 12, 2019. Five members from our court attended the multi-district meeting which was held on the grounds of the Wellspring Retreat center in Whitehouse, TX. The day began with a Mass celebrated by Wellspring director, Father Gus. District deputies presented overviews of their court s activities. Each Regent submitted a report for the year ending 2018. Our report is included below. The focus for the remainder of the day was on ceremonials, presented by State Ceremonial Chair, Duchess Collins. She inspired us with her passion for CDA ceremonials of every type: spiritual, officer installation, reception of new members and bereavement. Back at home, Jacelyn has agreed to serve as our court Ceremonial Chairperson! In the upcoming meetings she will share more of what we learned at the training. One of our first initiatives will be to establish an honor guard to serve at wake services. 4
1st Call - 51st Biennial Texas CDA Convention We have received the 1st Call to convention from our State Regent, Rosie Stockwell. It is packed with information to help us plan for the state-wide gathering of Texas Catholic Daughters to be held at the McAllen Convention Center, McAllen Texas from May 2 5, 2019. All court members are invited to attend. If you are planning to attend and would like to room with someone, please let Jacelyn know. If your husband would like to come along, there will be several husbands attending. If you are new to Catholic Daughters, this is a great opportunity to be inspired and learn more about how our strength-in-numbers make us an effective organization. Please don t hesitate to ask any member about past convention experiences. According to CDA National bylaws our court is eligible to send 3 delegates. Additionally, backup delegates need to be selected. The highest-ranking court officer shall automatically be selected as a delegate. The remaining delegates are to be elected by the court. Delegate names are due to state by March 15. The convention will begin with a Mass of all attendees at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle in San Juan, Texas. The convention will close on Sunday approximately noon. The 1st call to convention can be located on the Texas CDA home page at: http://www.texascda.org/#loaded.
