ANNUAL SUMMARY ACTIVITIES REPORT (APRIL, 2014 - MARCH, 2015) During the year 2014-2015, the Council has implemented a number of activities for popularizing science in the State. Also, in collaboration with various NGO s in the State, the Council organized several activities aimed at promoting the use of various appropriate technologies at the grass root-level. The following programmes has been conducted under the scheme Popularization of Science Programme: 19 (nineteen) Block-level Science & Environmental Fairs were organized at different C&RD Blocks of the State. 4 (four) Science Awareness Camps were organized at St. Anthony s College, Shillong, Laban Bengali Boy s Hr. Sec. School, Shillong and Lawmei Presbyterian Secondary School, Shillong. 1 (one) Workshop on Innovative Experiments in Chemistry held at Shillong Science Centre on the 3 rd 4 th July, 2014. State-level Master Resource Person s Training Programme under 22 nd NCSC 2014 at Shillong Science Centre during the 23 rd 24 th, July 2014. 5 (five) programmes on discussion with the villages on Learning for Cogent Living was organised in-collaboration with Society for Socio-economic Awareness and Environment Protection (SSEAEP) at different villages of East Khasi Hills District. 5 (five) National Children s Science Congress (NCSC) Awareness Camp. 7 (seven) District-level National Children s Science Congress (NCSC) 2014. Participation of Child Scientists from Meghalaya in the Indian Science Congress (ISC) - 2014 held at Mumbai during the 30 th December, 2014 to 7 th January, 2015. State-level Science & Environmental Fair 2015 was organised as part of National Science Day (NSD) Celebration, 2015 at Shillong Science Centre during 26 th 27 th March, 2015. In association with Vigyan Prasar, New Delhi a Weekly Radio Science Serial (in Khasi) was broadcasted on every Saturday of the week through All India Radio, Shillong. Under the Introduction of Appropriate Technology Programme, the following programmes were conducted in and around the State to promote the application of appropriate technologies implemented by the Council. 9 Nos. of Awareness Camps, 3 Nos. of Demonstration Camps and 2 Nos. TIP, 2 Nos. TIC/TIP, 3 TAC-TDC 1 Training Camps, 8 Nos. TIC 1 (one) programme on Ceramic Membrane Based Water Purification Plant was organized under Technology-Oriented Entrepreneurship Programme (Tech. EDP) at Shillong Science Centre during 10 th 13 th June, 2014. Under the Technology Experimentation Programme, the experimentation on Water Mill at Lawpyllon, Ri-Bhoi District has completed on the month of December, 2014 and installation of Hydraulic Ram Pump (HRP) at Trout Farm, Fisheries Department, Govt. of Meghalaya on the 24 th 26 th March, 2015.
