Recently, the North American Division (NAD) has taken additional measures to remove 15- passenger vans from use by organizations in its territory. "For several years, Adventist Risk Management, Inc. (ARM) has encouraged church organizations to remove and discontinue operation of this van model," says David Fournier, VIP/chief client care officer for ARM. In This Issue Danger of 15-Passenger Vans The Biblical Mandate Job Opening: Bermuda Institute Adventists in the News Moment of Reflection Fournier addresses questions about the safety issues surrounding both older 15-passenger vans and the newer models as well. "There may have been safety improvements in the newest vans including options such as stability control, tire pressure monitoring systems, full passenger side airbags, traction control, anti-lock brakes, rear view camera, and improved safety glass. However, these safety features still do not address the fundamental problems," adds Fournier. The Biblical Mandate The Master Teacher shows us by example that training is necessary to effect change, growth, and development, and we are also admonished to train up our children in the way that they should go. Throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, God has provided various symbols, methods, and lessons to develop our character into one that reflects Christ's character and prepares us for citizenship in His kingdom. He shows us how sin separates and breaks our relationship with Him, but He has also given us hope in the promise of a Redeemer, a glimpse of the day when everything will end on this earth, and what is in store for those who remain faithful.
