NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER TASK FORCE 1775 First National Call to Fasting & Prayer, called for by Continental Congress. 1863 President Lincoln declares a National Day of Prayer and Fasting. 1983 The National Day of Prayer Task Force was established in May 1983. The first National Day of Prayer Observance was held in Constitution Hall. 1987 Vonette Bright & NPC begin lobbying President Reagan and Congress to set aside a designated day for national prayer. 1988 President Reagan signs into law the designation of the first Thursday in May as the annual observance for the National Day of Prayer. 1991 Mrs. Shirley Dobson becomes Chairman of the NDP Task Force. 2016 Shirley Dobson celebrates her 25th anniversary and passes the baton to Anne Graham Lotz, who becomes interim Chairman of the NDP Task Force. 2017 The National Day of Prayer Board of Directors retires the title of Chairman, and appoints Dr. Ronnie Floyd as the President of the National Day of Prayer. 2018 The 30th anniversary of President Reagan signing into law the designation of the first Thursday in May as the annual observance for the National Day of Prayer. President Dr. Ronnie Floyd Governing Board The National Day of Prayer Task Force is governed by its 14-member Board of Directors who also preside over the National Prayer Committee. Board Chair - Dr. David Butts Board President - Rev. Dick Eastman MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the NDP Task Force is to mobilize unified public prayer for America. ABOUT THE MINISTRY The National Prayer Committee formed a national prayer subcommittee in 1981, which became the National Day of Prayer Task Force in 1989. National Day of Prayer was first led by Vonette Bright until 1991, then by Shirley Dobson and Anne Graham Lotz until 2017, and now by Dr. Ronnie Floyd. Since 1952, there have been thousands of proclamations by the President of the United States and state leaders, encouraging all Americans to pray on the National Day of Prayer. Today, more than 50,000 events, reaching millions of people, are coordinated by thousands of NDP Task Force volunteer leaders across the nation. 2 National Day of Prayer - 2018 Impact Report

Dear Prayer Partner, Every town, city, and county in America needs to have a prayer observance for our nation on the upcoming National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, 2019. This is a compelling vision to imagine! While thousands upon thousands of prayer observances happen each year on the National Day of Prayer, they are not happening in every town, every city, and every county in America. This is what we must ensure. This is what we must advance. This is what we must strategize toward. This is much bigger than any of us, including our present task force. This is why we need you! That is right! You can help. You can lead. You can attend. Get your calendar out and mark the day now: Thursday, May 2, 2019. Our country needs prayer. Our country needs you. Plan now to make this happen wherever you live and wherever you are on the National Day of Prayer! Now is the time to lead and to pray, Dr. Ronnie Floyd, President, National Day of Prayer National Day of Prayer - 2018 Impact Report 3

National Leadership Summit 2018 On Monday and Tuesday, October 29-30, at Cross Church in Rogers, Arkansas, the task force of the National Day of Prayer held a conference for the purpose of engaging anyone interested in advancing a strategy of prayer for America. Through this fast-paced and energetic conference we equipped and empowered volunteers from around the nation, to advance a strategy of prayer for America in their local community, their region, their state, and all of America. On the second morning of our one and one-half day conference, we revealed the theme for the 2019 National Day of Prayer. This compelling and timely theme, Love One Another, is drawn from John 13:34, I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. This theme will be forwarded from October 30 all the way through and beyond our 2019 National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, 2019. National Day of Prayer - 2018 Impact Report 5

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2019 Year-Round Impact Although the first Thursday of May is the focal point of each year s efforts, the impact of the National Day of Prayer on people s lives happens throughout the year. As a result of printed and digital resources such as the newly acquired PRAY magazine, Church Prayer Leaders Network, National Day of Prayer websites, social media, as well as leadership training materials, events, and outreaches, the work of God in and through NDP staff and volunteers happens every day. In fact, this year-round work is a growing emphasis for the National Day of Prayer as the ministry works to engage, encourage, and equip people to mobilize unified public prayer and share the Gospel each and every day of the year. Introducing PRAY Magazine - Available January 2019! 6 National Day of Prayer - 2018 Impact Report

National Day of Prayer in Every Town, City, and County in America The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance for our entire nation. We believe that every town, city, and county in America will benefit from having at least one prayer observance so that they can be saturated with prayer on the first Thursday in May. There are 19,150 cities and 3,142 counties in America. To fully realize our mission, we must reach every city and county and we believe that it is possible. Immersing America in prayer can best be accomplished with prayer gatherings that happen in businesses, churches, homes, county courthouses, and on the steps of city halls across America. In order for that to occur, the leaders in those communities must determine to work together to pray for our nation. And this is most likely to happen when churches (of all denominations, including non-denominational) determine to pray together for our nation on this day. Strong, focused, prayerful leaders make things happen when they lead with vision and inspire their communities to rally around the common goal of praying for our nation and our world. 2019 Theme - Love One Another THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER MAY 2, 2019 This powerful and compelling theme will be forwarded through an estimated 200 denominations and just under 400,000 churches in America, the leaders in each of our 19,510 incorporated places in the United States including cities, towns, and villages, as well as through each of the 3,142 counties across America. When you hear and see it, I think you will agree. I believe it is a theme that any person from any walk of life will be able to embrace. PRAY FOR AMERICA LOVE ONE ANOTHER LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
