Schls Schl Trustee: Steve D Anju excellence in Christian Academic Educatin Celebrating Freedm Parents tell us that it is imprtant t them that their children receive a Christian educatin, and this pririty is ne f the tp reasns they chse t send their children t First Lutheran. Students at First Lutheran benefit frm smething they cannt get in public schl elementary and middle schls: lessns n the Bible, religin and mral character as part f the regular curriculum in all grade levels, taught in an envirnment that is guided by and prmtes the understanding f Christian principles. This freedm is particularly evident during the weeks leading up t Easter. In First Lutheran classrms at all levels, students explre the persecutin, crucifixin, death and ultimate resurrectin f Jesus Christ in age-apprpriate lessns and activities. Sme examples: In first grade, the stry f Jesus resurrectin is brught t life with empty tmbs made frm biscuits and marshmallws. In furth grade, students put small items in plastic resurrectin eggs that when pened ver the days f Hly Week tell the Easter stry. In sixth grade, students pay special attentin t Jesus teachings and ministries. These activities nt nly give meaning t the Easter celebratin, but als deepen students understanding f mral cncepts such as sacrifice, frgiveness and uncnditinal lve. S this Easter, as we appreciate the sacrifice made fr all f us, we als celebrate the freedm t share these lessns with ur yung peple s that they may grw in their understanding and faith.
