THANKSGIVING FESTIVAL SERVIE What Time Is It? A Time to Give Thanks November 21 and 22, 2018 RINGING OF THE BELLS OPENING HYN 613 ome, You Thankful People, ome ome, you thankful people, come; Raise the song of harvest-home. All be safely gathered in Ere the winter storms begin. God our maker shall provide For our wants to be supplied. ome to God's own temple, come; Raise the song of harvest-home. All the world is God's own field, Fruit unto his praise to yield; Wheat and weeds together sown, Unto joy or sorrow grown. First the blade and then the ear, Then the full corn shall appear. Lord of harvest, grant that we Wholesome grain and pure may be. For the Lord our God shall come And shall take his harvest home, From his field shall in that day All offenses purge away, Give his angels charge at last In the fire the weeds to cast, But the fruitful ears to store In his garner evermore. Even so, Lord, quickly come To your final harvest-home; Gather all your people in, Free from sorrow, free from sin, There, forever purified, In your garner to abide. ome with all your angels, come; Raise the glorious harvest-home. INVOATION In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. ONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION As we enter God's presence to give thanks to him for all his blessings, we confess our sins and our unworthiness. lothed and renewed through the gift of his forgiveness, we find even greater reason to worship, adore, and give thanks to him whose grace is lavish and abundant.

Forgive us, Lord, for shallow thankfulness, For dull content with warmth and sheltered care, For songs of praise for worldly wealthiness, While of your richer gifts we're unaware. Forgive us, Lord, for selfish thanks and praise, For words that speak at variance with deeds; Forgive our thanks for walking pleasant ways Unmindful of a broken brother's needs. Forgive us, Lord, for feast that knows not fast, For joy in things that meanwhile starve the soul, For walls and wars that hide your mercies vast And blur our vision of the kingdom goal. Forgive us, Lord, for we have used your gifts without being grateful, abused your grace and kindness, and rebelled against your ownership of all we so quickly call our own. Forgive us for our many sins against you and against one another. Restore us by your grace, and lead us to know and do your will; through Jesus hrist, our Lord. Upon this your confession, I, as a called servant of the Word, forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. ay he who began this good work in you bring it to completion on the day of our Lord Jesus hrist. The peace of the Lord be with you. In the peace of forgiveness, let us praise the Lord. HYN OF PRAISE 241, v. 2 Alleluia! Let Praises Ring! Alleluia! Let praises ring! Unto the Lamb of God we sing, In whom we are elected. He bought the hurch with his own blood; He cleansed her in that blessed flood And as his bride selected. Holy, Holy Is our union And communion. His befriending Gives us joy and peace unending.

PRAYER OF THE DAY Let us pray. Almighty God, you show us mercy every morning and provide for every need of body and soul. Grant us your Holy Spirit, that we may in faith acknowledge your merciful goodness to us, giving thanks for all that you provide; through Jesus hrist, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. THANKSGIVING FOR OUR LAND OLD TESTAENT LESSON Deuteronomy 8:1-10, Bible page 184 We give thanks for the good land we enjoy. PSALS Psalms 104 and 105, selected verses The psalmist reminds us that God made the earth and still supplies the bounty we enjoy. All Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are very great! You set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be moved. You make springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills; they give drink to every beast of the field. From your lofty abode you water the mountains; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work. You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season. You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing. O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. ay the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works. Bless the Lord, O my soul! Praise the Lord! Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.

HYN 614 Sing to the Lord of Harvest Sing to the Lord of harvest; Sing songs of love and praise. With joyful hearts and voices Your alleluias raise. By him the rolling seasons In fruitful order move; Sing to the Lord of harvest A joyous song of love. God makes the clouds rain goodness; The deserts bloom and spring. The hills leap up in gladness; The valleys laugh and sing. God fills them with his fullness, All things with large increase; He crowns the year with blessing, With plenty and with peace. Bring to this sacred altar The gifts his goodness gave, The golden sheaves of harvest, The souls hrist died to save. Your hearts lay down before him When at his feet you fall, And with your lives adore him Who gave his life for all. THANKSGIVING FOR OUR FREEDO EPISTLE LESSON 1 Timothy 2:1-6a, Bible page 1193 We give thanks for freedom and pray for those in authority. PSAL Psalm 85 The psalmist prays for God's blessing upon the nation and for the people to trust in him. All Lord, you were favorable to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of your people; you covered all their sin. You withdrew all your wrath; you turned from your hot anger. Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us. Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation. Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly. Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land. Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs up from the ground, and righteousness looks down from the sky. Yes, the Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before him and make his footsteps a way. Lord, you were favorable to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.

Analyze the why. onsider His Love: Reconnect with Romans 8:28.
