Advent Liturgy Schedule 2nd Sunday of Advent: December 9 Saturday, 4:30 p.m., Sunday, 11 a.m. Pre-Christmas Candlelight Mass, 8 p.m. (Prelude Music begins at 7:30 p.m.) 3rd Sunday of Advent: December 16 Saturday, 4:30 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. 4th Sunday of Advent: December 23 Saturday, 4:30 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. Christmas Eve: Monday, December 24 at 10 p.m. Christmas Day: December 25 Tuesday, December 25 at 11 a.m. Christmas Liturgy Schedule Bishop Thomas has asked that the traditional St. Michael prayer be said more frequently in our parishes to combat intentionally the evil of the sexual abuse scandal in the Church. While we will not add this prayer to the Mass as will be the practice in some parishes, it will be included in the bulletin for a number of months for individual use. I certainly encourage all of us to pray for healing and purification in our Church - Fr. Jeremy St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen Electronic Funds Transfer: Are you interested in having your offertory donation to Corpus Christi University Parish deducted from either your checking or savings account? This deduction would be on a regular basis, once a month, to take the place of your weekly donation at Mass. If you are interested, there are forms in the Gathering Space, or in the parish office. Please contact the parish office at 419-531-4992 with any questions. From the Pastor Friends, The beautiful but challenging Advent season is upon us. In our gospel this weekend, St. John the Baptist exhorts us in the words of Isaiah to make straight a highway for our God. This season, then, is a wonderful opportunity each year to remove the clutter that blocks our spiritual growth. We all know the annoyance of traffic on the road; may we remove the congestion in our own hearts so that God has an open road to reach us. Please keep our students in prayer as they take their final exams and return home for Christmas break. May they know of our prayers for them in their absence over the next month. Elsewhere in this bulletin, you will see information about a liturgical grant we recently received. Luke and I discussed earlier this year that our current hymnals are from 1994 and not only have the old translation of the Mass in them, but also do not include many hymns that Luke likes to include in his repertoire. Fortunately, we applied and received a large liturgical grant that will cover the majority of the cost of new hymnals for the church. If the music ministry here at CCUP is meaningful to you, consider donating specifically to help cover the rest of the cost of these hymnals. A special thanks to parishioners James Molnar and Matthew Leuck who attended the grant reception ceremony last Sunday on behalf of CCUP. God s blessings on a fruitful Advent, Fr. Jeremy Corpus Christi receives special grant Corpus Christi was blessed to receive a liturgical grant from The Rev. August Schaefer Endowment Fund to help purchase new hymnals. Permanent Community Members Matthew Leuck and James Molnar accepted the grant at a special luncheon on Dec. 2 at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton. The grant helps cover a majority of the expense to purchase new hymnals. If you are interested in helping contribute to the remainder of the costs, please contact Fr. Jeremy. Thank you for your support. FOOD FOR OTHERS. The 3rd Sunday of this month is the weekend of Dec 16. We will be giving to St Martin de Porres Outreach Center. In addition to any non-perishable food items they can use personal hygiene items: bar soap, toilet paper, paper towels, deodorant for men & women, toothpaste & brushes. Any cleaning supplies (dish soap, laundry detergent, etc). All non-perishable food items are welcome. See poster & flyers at the entrances. Paper or plastic grocery bags are always welcome! Pax Christi at CCUP thanks everyone for your ongoing generosity!
