October 8, 2017, Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time WELCOME GUESTS, We are honored that you chose to worship with us today! Gospel for 10-15-17 Matthew 22:1-14 LECTORS Wendell Fant - 1st Reading: Isaiah 25:6-10a Joyce Lancaster - 2nd Reading: Philippians 4:12-14, 19-20 PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL Kay Cammack STEWARDSHIP "Do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving; let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 The opposite of Christian stewardship is fear. Giving to God "from the top" and not what is left over requires an inner assurance that God will provide for our needs. This assurance or faith is the solid foundation for the practical exercise of stewardship. Blessings and thanks to Joey Decker who prayed for vocations last week. For instance, this year the archdiocese is supporting 19 seminarians in their formation for the priesthood. For more on the work of the Archdiocese of Louisville or to make a gift online, visit www.archlouy.org/csa. MARRIAGE MOMENTS "Have no anxiety at all, but...make your requests known to God." (Philippians 4:6) We all have anxieties in life - money, health, our kids, safety, etc.) My spouse cannot solve all my problems, but sharing our needs in prayer together can lessen the anxiety.* PARENTING POINTERS When things are not going well for you or your child (and there are plenty of days like this) try reversing your attitude. Think of one thing that you are grateful for this day. Ask your child to stretch to think of something too.* *(By Susan Voqt, www.susanvoqt.net) All who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to express in their hearts a prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one another.
