One: Blessed is the One who comes bringing trustworthy words for the healing of the world. *OPENING HYMN God Is Here (vs. 1-3) #409 CALL TO CONFESSION SILENT PRAYER PRAYER OF CONFESSION Holy God, you have called us to be your holy people. We confess that we may not want to hear your voice, because we consider the cost too great, because it upsets our plans, and disturbs our comfort. We permit the voices of the world to plug our ears. We too easily neglect the spiritual disciplines of solitude, silence, prayer, meditation, and worship that put us in the way of hearing your voice and discerning your call. Forgive us, clear our sight, and open our ears. ASSURANCE OF PARDON One: Jesus Christ came to serve, but he also came with grace and mercy. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven but we are also equipped to minister to each other and to the world. Let us praise God for God's work in Jesus Christ. Thanks be to God!

RESPONSE TO PARDON God Is Here (vs. 4) #409 Lord of all, of church and kingdom, in an age of change and doubt, keep us faithful to the gospel; help us work your purpose out. Here, in this day's dedication, all we have to give, receive: we, who cannot live without you, we adore you! We believe! WELCOME THE CHILDREN Peter Johnston This, this is where children belong, welcomed as part of the worshiping throng. Water, God s Word, bread and cup, prayer, and song: This is where children belong. CHILDREN S TIME (Children may now be seated with their parents or those five and younger may leave for the nursery.) PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION 1ST SCRIPTURE READING One: This is the Word of the Lord Thanks be to God. ANTHEM 2ND SCRIPTURE READING One: This is the Word of the Lord Thanks be to God. ATTENDING TO SCRIPTURE Matthew 25:31-46 (pg 42, NT) I Samuel 3:1-18 (pg 339, OT) SERMON "Learning to Listen" Rev. Sue Coller HYMN Lord, Speak to Me That I May Speak #722 PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE / THE LORD'S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
