DAVID the KING by Bishop Robert Baron We are offering a 7-week study of King David by noted author and video lecturer Bishop Robert Baron. You may remember him from our popular series, Catholicism that we did a few years ago. David s kingship recalls that of Adam in the Garden of Eden, and yet it points toward the King par excellence, Jesus Christ. The New Testament foretold a son of David who would realize the fullness of Israelite kingship, but whose actual reign defied expectation. King David causes us to look back toward Adam s kingship and forward toward Christ the King, seeing Christ as the fulfillment of the Davidic line and the realization of the Kingdom of God on earth. In Bishop Barron's new film and study program, David the King, Bishop Barron helps us to understand this pivotal figure in light of the first king and the King of kings. Three separate sessions are offered with groups meeting on Monday mornings, Wednesday evenings & Thursday evenings You can Mix and Match attending any of the sessions in the same week. The dates and times are as follows: Group 1 will meet Monday mornings in Room 1 from 10:00-11:30 am March 5, 12, 19, April 2, 9, 16, 23 Group 2 will meet Wednesday evenings in Room 1 from 7:00-8:30 pm March 7, 14, 21, April 4, 11, 18, 25 Group 3 will meet Thursday evenings in Room 1 from 7:00-8:30 pm March 8, 15, 22, April 5, 12, 19, 26 TO REGISTER for this exciting program, please E- Mail the parish office at wstritap@dor.org or call the office at 671-1100 and let us know which session you would like to attend. All are invited to attend our St. Joseph s Table Saturday, March 17 After the 5:00pm Mass in the Parish Center We invite you to join us as we celebrate St. Joseph. The Table is meant to offer a taste of God s goodness and to honor St. Joseph. Joseph was the foster father of Jesus and husband of Mary, a man of great faith, humble and hardworking, a carpenter. The tradition of the St. Joseph s Day Table began in Sicily in 1324 in thanksgiving for favors received from God through the intercession of St. Joseph. Legend has it that a small village was suffering from a severe drought. The people prayed for rain and promised that if their crops were spared, they would prepare a feast and feed the poor. Their prayers were answered and the tradition began. Today we offer the Table as a way to express our thankfulness for the blessings that God has bestowed on us, our parish, and for the great example of St. Joseph who cared so compassionately for his family Mary and Jesus. We invite you and your family to join us for this delicious celebration of our blessings! Donations of food may be delivered on Saturday, March 17 after 12:00 Noon to the kitchen in the parish center. St. Joseph s Table will be blessed by Father following the 5:00pm Mass. Suggestions for food donations are: Vegetable Lasagna Celery or Cardone fritters Eggplant or Zucchini fried Artichoke French or Casserole Pasta with vegetables e.g. broccoli, bread crumbs Pasta with honey toasted bread crumbs Pasta with white or red clam sauce Stuffed mushrooms Macaroni and Cheese Greens & Beans Spinach Casserole Vegetarian pizza Baked Ziti with meatless sauce Meatless frittata Desserts: Cookies (any kind), Cream puffs, Cannoli, Sfingi, Honey Balls, Pizzelles, Fruit If you are able to bring any of the above food items or a meatless dish, please call Felice Armignacco at 671-5177.
