One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple. Psalm 27:4 We welcome you to our worship and fellowship. To God be the glory! And may we be richly blessed. Please join us for fellowship and refreshments in the Fellowship Hall after the morning service. Today, for Sanctity of Life Sunday we are collecting items for the Alpha Center. You will have until next Sunday, January 27, to donate. Thank you for being a blessing! Children aged 3-5 meet your teacher in the foyer during the offering this morning for Children s Church. ABOUT OUR MESSAGES Today, we begin a short stretch of messages answering questions submitted to Pastor Drew by our congregation. In 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, Paul summarizes the Christian message by first outlining the basic, objective gospel message, and second, how the gospel has affected him personally. We ll cover both of those aspects in sharing our faith today: first, this morning 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 answers the question, How do you present the gospel to someone? This evening, John 9:14-27 answers the question, How do you share your testimony? Next week In the morning, we answer, What Does Jesus Say About Forgiveness? In the evening, What Does the Justice of God Mean for Us?

PRAYERS AND PRAISES Please be in prayer for the father of Tanya Weg, Harley Van Horssen, who was diagnosed with lung cancer during this past month and was hospitalized in Platte with other health issues besides. He will have tests done in Sioux Falls this week, so please pray that Harley and all of the Van Horssen family receive clarity and God s peace as he begins treatment and they deal with this diagnosis. At the onset of this new year, it's our privilege to again partner with Platte Christian Reformed Church in mission through the Luke Society. Your faithful support is not only a blessing to doctors around the world, but an encouragement to those sitting around you today as we band together in support of Christ's kingdom. We sincerely thank you for your financial gifts and prayer support. May you be blessed in the year ahead. OUR ANNOUNCEMENTS From Our Council: At our recent meeting, the membership transfer of Barry and Lori Miedema to First CRC, Sioux Falls, SD, was approved. Please pray that Barry and Lori continue to receive God s blessings in their new church home. This past week, the elders met with Richard and Molly Sternberg and voted to receive them as full members of our church. They will profess their faith in an upcoming worship gathering. We rejoice at God s work in their lives and praise Him for bringing the Sternberg s into our church family! NO Monday morning ladies Bible study this coming week, January 21st. We will meet again on January 28th and will be on Chapter 2. Church Membership: Interested in becoming a member of Platte CRC? Are you a baptized member being led to make profession of faith? Pastor Drew is looking into leading a church membership course for you soon. Please talk with him or with any elder if you are interested!

Visit to Ben and Amy Meyer: We are exploring the possibility of sending a group to Guadalajara, Mexico early this fall to connect with Rev. Ben and Amy Meyer, missionaries supported by our church through Resonate Global Mission. We hope to build our relationship with the Meyers and also complete some type of work project. If you re interested in this trip, there will be an initial information meeting Sunday, February 3 in the family room following morning worship. Contact Pastor Drew if you would like to attend this meeting and are unable! AREA ANNOUNCEMENTS The South Dakota Hour of Reflection, sponsored by SD Right to Life, will be held on TODAY, January 20, beginning with a Life Chain near the Capitol at 12:15 PM. Classis Faith Formation Workshop-Research points to parents as the most significant religious influence in the faith lives of kids. What are we doing as churches to support faith formation in the home and what resources are out there for parents to help them find their own rhythm of talking about faith with their kids? Join us as we explore ways for churches to support parents and parents to support their kids in growing faith at home. The mini-workshop will be held on Saturday, February 23, in the orchestra room at Sioux Center Christian School from 9:30-11:00 AM.

Fresh Hope: Fresh Hope is a new ministry to Platte and the surrounding communities. It is a peer to peer led program that aims to help anyone who has or is currently dealing with a mental health concern (depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc) but this is not a crisis intervention group. It is a Christian-based program that partners with the medical and counseling fields to offer support, encouragement, and hope through a network of individuals who understand (because they have also felt those concerns personally.) Loved ones (spouse, parent, friend) are also invited to attend. The first night will meet at First Reformed Church on Feb. 4 with the group continuing to meet every 1st & 3rd Monday of the month. Contact FRC for more information or just plan on attending. New Hope Christian Camp & Retreat Center is hosting their first Women's Retreat Weekend, IF:Gathering 2019, on February 8-9! The live simulcast from Dallas, TX will focus on Proverbs and relying on God's wisdom. Join us for a time of worship, great speakers, fellowship, rest, renewal, and great food! For more information, schedule, and registration go to: www.newhopechristiancamp.org. Also, there are pamphlets in back of each church or contact Val Kuipers (680-4371) with any questions.
