Thank you to everyone for your open ears to my message this past Sunday on our current fiscal reality. This weekend you will hear more briefly from either a member of our parish council or finance council echoing and reaffirming some of my remarks. I encourage you to listen and discern what you could do. If 1000 of our active families were able to increase their offering by $10 a month, we would be out of our present situation. We have a challenge before us but very much able to meet it head on! I increased my offering this week and changed my donation from monthly automatic withdrawal from checking to online giving through my credit card. I was amazed at how easy and quick it was! Our online giving portal is on the front page of our parish website. It could not have been easier. Each of us must pray over their own life situation, I just ask that you take it to prayer. Thank you very much! A sincere thank you to everyone who prayed for me, Adam, Cassian, Samantha and all our high school students while we were away on the March for Life in Washington. Your prayers support us in our courage, witness, faith and our testimony to love. Never doubt the power of prayer. I look forward to sharing with you some of our stories and experiences in the coming weeks. The students in particular are looking forward to sharing with you their experiences and their ideas and hopes for the year ahead. We have amazing students at our parish. Tuesday, January 22, is the USA Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. How could you add prayer to this day? It is an especially good day to offer up any penitential practices you could do, especially fasting. Fasting, like during Lent, is when we eat one regular meal and two smaller meals, without snacking in between. This is advised only if we can medically handle this. This diet produces a hunger in us, a lack of satisfaction of being filled. It represents our hunger for justice and our unsatisfied state with the current reality of legalized abortion. We give our hunger to God for true justice. Join me in spiritual solidarity with our unborn family. Fr. January 19 & 20, 2019 PAGE 3 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Times To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. (CORINTHIANS 12:7) St. Paul tells us that God has blessed each of us for a reason. How has God blessed you? Are you using your gifts according to God s plan? How are you helping to build God s kingdom here on earth? Remember that if you don t do the work God planned for you, no one else can do it. Live the life God has intended for you, feel His love, peace and joy! Religious Education News Adam Horn-R.E. Director The Week Ahead: January 23 Welcome back to Religious Education Classes!
