November 24-25, 2018 God s Story The Bible (Beginning to end!) God wants us to be part of his story! First 10 minutes of the service hour: Engage kids in cooperative play activities to help them connect to other kids. Next 5 minutes: Connect Time Next 25 minutes: Large Group Last 25 minutes: Snack and Small Group As kids leave, ask them to show you their storybook! Try a countdown to help kids clean up! Start at 10 and countdown to 1, and encourage kids to race and clean as fact as they can!

GOAL: Connect time is all about engaging kids in a short, interactive game to prepare them for Large Group. Clean up! (10 minutes after the service start time, when you get the 5-minute warning from the presenter) Line up. Today we re going to talk about how much God loves us, and wants us to be part of his story! Let s imagine all the times God loves us: If God loves you when you re smiling, hop one time. If God loves you when you re frowning, put your hands on your head. If God loves you when you re brushing your teeth, spin around. If God loves you while you re picking your nose, touch your toes. If God loves you while you re drinking water, say YES! End with these to calm kids down: If God loves you while you re sleeping, say Shhhh! If God loves you when you re shivering and cold, freeze like a statue. If you want to hear God s whole story, stand on your tiptoes! As you walk into Large Group, encourage kids to put on their listening ears! Remind them that HOPS will be showing us how we should act in Large Group, so we have to listen!

Here s a link to today s God s Story video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v =ebrbdbxzmrg WELCOME AND INTRO Main Goal: Review the beginning of God s story and rescue plan. Notes: *Click to play intro music. Say: Hi Friends! Welcome to Kids Club. I'm and I'm really glad you're here today. Before we get started, I want you to meet my friend HOPS. Video: HOPS Obey your leaders! (fall theme) Say: (Holding up the Bible.) This is God s story. Out of all the stories in the world, this is the most important. Do you know what it s called? (Let kids respond the Bible. ) That s right, the Bible! It s God s rescue plan. It shows us how He rescued us from all the wrong things in the world. Say: In the beginning, God made the whole world and everything in it. He created the sun and the moon, the water and the land, the plants and the animals, and people like you and me! Everything was good. Give me a big thumbs up! (Let kids respond. Then change your tone.) Say: But THEN, something bad happened. Adam and Eve disobeyed God, and all the wrong things came into the world. Things like sadness and death. Show me your sad face. (Let kids respond.) Say: Even though Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God loved them anyway! He planned a great rescue so that Adam and Eve, and you and me, could be close to God again! Do you know who the Rescuer is? (Let kids say: Jesus!)

GOD CREATED A PERFECT WORLD Main Goal: Understand how God s story began, and how he planned a great rescue! Notes: WE CAN BE PART OF GOD S STORY Main Goal: Retell God s story and understand how we can be a part of it. Notes: Say: Well, guess what? The rest of the Bible tells us all about God s amazing rescue plan and how he sent the Rescuer Jesus! Show me a big smile! (Let kids respond.) Say: Even though we can read about God s story in the Bible, did you know that God wants YOU to be a part of his story? That s because he loves you SO much! Give yourself a big hug! (Let kids respond.) Ask: Do you think we have time to read the WHOLE Bible today? (Let kids respond as you visually flip through pages in the Jesus Storybook Bible.) Nope. But, we can watch a video that tells us all about God s rescue plan, from beginning to end. Would you guys like to do that? (Yes!) Say: Alright, let s check it out! As you watch, see if God wants YOU to be a part of his family. Video: God s Story: God s Story Ask: Does God want you in his family? (Let kids respond.) Yes! Does He want you to be a part of his story? (Let kids respond.) Yes! Say: Remember, when God first made the world, it was perfect! Loop: Turning World (Play as you continue talking.) Say: There was no sadness, sickness or meanness; everything was good. Would you want to live in that world? (Let kids respond.) Yeah, me too. Say: But then, Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Because of that, the world wasn t perfect anymore. (Image of death/anger/sadness.) Can you show me a sad face? (Let kids respond.) Even though the world was full of wrong things, God loves us so much, that he came up with a rescue plan. He sent his son, Jesus, to rescue us and show us how to follow God. (Image: Happy face) When Jesus comes back, he s going to make the world perfect again, just like God planned it to be! Because Jesus rescued us, we can be part of God s story and part of his family by following him! We can follow Jesus by loving others. Say: Let s put our hands on our heart. (Let kids respond.) We can follow Jesus by telling our friends that Jesus loves them. Let s say, Jesus loves us! (Repeat with kids.) We can follow Jesus by obeying what he says. Let s all say, I can obey God! (Repeat with kids.)

WRAP UP AND WORSHIP Main Goal: Help kids interact through prayer and worship! Say: I m so glad that God loves us SO much that he wants to rescue us, and wants us to be part of his family. Let s pray right now, and tell Him how much we love him. Pray (Breaking it into small, repeatable phrases): Dear God. We love you so much! Thank you for rescuing us. Help us be a part of your story. Aaa-men! Set up worship: Are you ready to show God how glad we are that he loves us? (Let kids respond.) Then let s stand up and sing some songs to him! Music Video: Be Strong Take Courage Music Video: Robot Rock Music Video: Jesus Loves Me

Goal: Kids will (1) review and retell the story of God s rescue plan and (2) understand how we can be a part of God s story and family! Why? Retelling a story through different kinds of repetition will not only help kids understand the story better, but also help them tell others about it. Tip: Keep reminding kids that God s story is real and true, and they get to be part of it everyday! REVIEW THE STORY 1. What was the world like when God first created it? (Perfect! Everything was good and there was no sickness, sadness, death, etc.) 2. But then what really sad thing happened? (Adam and Eve disobeyed God; all the wrong things in the world began.) 3. Who did God send to rescue us? (Jesus!) 4. Who does God want to be part of his story? (Us!) 5. How can we be part of God s story/family? (We can follow Jesus and try to live like him.) MAKE IT PERSONAL *Today s storybook template needs to be folded in half. You can do this before small group, or do it as you hand them to each kid. Set out markers. Give each kid a storybook template and help them write their name in the blank space on the front ( is a part of God s Story! ) Review each part of the story with the images printed inside (let kids color and decorate the images as you go along, or afterward): Earth image (God made the world, and it was perfect!) Sad face image (People disobeyed God, so there was sadness, sickness and wrong things.) Jesus image (God sent Jesus to rescue us from all the wrongs in the world!) Happy face image (Now we can follow Jesus, and be a part of God s story!) Give kids a happy face sticker to stick on top of the happy face in their story book. Extra time? Have kids do a coloring sheet. After that, hide a small toy somewhere in the room and have kids try to find it. Say Hotter if they re close and Cooler if they re far!
