PHONE: (972) 562-2601 David William Shelton November 11, 1992 - August 25, 2016 David William Shelton, 23 passed away August 25 in McKinney, Texas. Born in Charleston, South Carolina he was the youngest son of Kevin and Lynette Shelton. He graduated McKinney Boyd High School in 2011, where he was a dedicated and decorated member of the Varsity Swim Team. He graduated with highest honors in 2014 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech University, where he enjoyed playing on the competitive club water polo team. He began his teaching career in 2015 at his alma mater, McKinney Boyd High School, where he taught Physics and was the assistant Swim Coach. David was many things. He was an encouraging teacher, compassionate coach and a fierce friend. David was a gifted guitarist and he expressed himself through his music and his powerful poetry. He had a beautiful mind full of ideas, stories, and songs. David enjoyed nature and valued intellectual and meaningful conversation. So many times he provided sarcastic comments and comedic relief. He carried a huge heart for people and had a knack for bringing out the best in everyone. He sought out the kid in the corner and encouraged him into greatness. As a loyal son, brother, uncle, grandson, friend, teacher, and coach, he has left a lasting imprint and a major impact that runs deep. He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Lynette Shelton; twin brother Kevin; sisters, Kristyn Shelton, Kathy Shelton, Kelly Stine and her husband Grant, Amber Burgess and her husband Jaron; nieces and nephew, Moriah Stine, Selah Stine, Brynli Burgess, and Kyler Burgess; grandparents Pete and Carolyn Sweet; and grandmother Jean Shelton. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leon Shelton Sr. and uncle, Jon Shelton. Memorials I had the honor of being one of Mr. Shelton's students at McKinney Boyd. It's been about 9 months since his passing and I still think about him everyday. He was just an amazing teacher and offered his help in any way possible. He talked to all of his students on a more personal level and bonded with each of us based on our individual interests. He took the time to care about each of us and made sure we understood the concepts being covered in physics. Mr. Shelton was the best teacher I've ever had and I will always consider myself lucky to have been one of his students.
