Resurrection is for all of us Wednesday, March 28, 2018 Acts 10:38 God 38 God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Matt. 20:17-19, 29 17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, 18 19 29 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. Acts 26:8 8 Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead? Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her. Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one. SH 593:9 9 RESURRECTION. Spiritualization of thought; a new and higher idea of immortality, or spiritual existence; material belief yielding to spiritual understanding. SH 292:31 In his resurrection and ascension, Jesus showed that a mortal man is not the real essence of manhood, and 293:1 that this unreal material mortality disappears in presence of the reality. SH 34:18-23 18 Through all the disciples experienced, they became more spiritual and understood better what the Master had taught. His resurrection was also their resur 21 rection. It helped them to raise themselves and others from spiritual dulness and blind belief in God into the perception of infinite possibilities. Fellowship with Christ SH 43:17-19 The final demonstration of the truth which Jesus taught, 18 and for which he was crucified, opened a new era for the world. SH 44:9-12 9 He proved Life to be deathless and Love to be the mas ter of hate. He met and mastered on the basis of Chris tian Science, the power of Mind over matter, all the claims 12 of medicine, surgery, and hygiene. SH 242:1-3 Through repentance, spiritual baptism, and regeneration, mortals put off their material 3 beliefs and false individuality. Spiritual baptism SH 262:7-8 By putting off the old man with his deeds, mortals put on immortality. SH 90:24-25 24 The admission to one s self that man is God s own like ness sets man free to master the infinite idea. 9 He had power to lay down a human sense of life for his spiritual identity in the likeness of the divine; but he allowed men to attempt the destruc tion of the mortal body in order that he might furnish the proof of immortal life. SH 44:28 31 His disciples believed Jesus to be dead while he was hidden in the sepulchre, whereas he was alive, demon 30 strating within the narrow tomb the power of Spirit to overrule mortal, material sense. Life-power indestructible Obstacles overcome SH 43:24 26 24 Out of reach of the barbarity of his enemies, he was acting under spiritual law in defiance of mat ter and mortality, and that spiritual law sustained him. SH 24:27-31 27 The efficacy of the crucifixion lay in the practical af fection and goodness it demonstrated for mankind. The truth had been lived among men; but until they saw that 30 it enabled their Master to triumph over the grave, his own disciples could not admit such an event to be possible. SH 24:32-2 After the resurrection, even the unbelieving Thomas was 25:1 forced to acknowledge how complete was the great proof of Truth and Love. SH 42:15-18 15 The resurrection of the great demonstrator of God s power was the proof of his final triumph over body and matter, and gave full evidence of divine 18 Science, evidence so important to mortals. Death outdone SH 42:24-28 24 Let men think they had killed the body! Afterwards he would show it to them unchanged. This demonstrates that in Christian Science the true man is governed by 27 God by good, not evil and is therefore not a mortal but an immortal. SH 45:32-4 Jesus students, not sufficiently advanced fully to un 46:1 derstand their Master s triumph, did not perform many wonderful works, until they saw him after his crucifixion 3 and learned that he had not died. 6 He over came the world, the flesh, and all error, thus proving their nothingness. He wrought a full salvation from sin, sickness, and death. SH 28:4-8 If the Master had not taken a student and taught the unseen verities of God, he would 6 not have been crucified. The determination to hold Spirit in the grasp of matter is the persecutor of Truth and Love. SH 50:30-31 The real cross, which Jesus bore up the hill of grief, was the world s hatred of Truth and Love. SH 43:32-4 Love must triumph over hate. Truth and Life must 44:1 seal the victory over error and death, before the thorns can be laid aside for a crown, the benediction follow, 3 Well done, good and faithful servant, and the suprem acy of Spirit be demonstrated. SH 45:6-10 6 Our Master fully and finally demonstrated divine Sci ence in his victory over death and the grave. Jesus deed was for the enlightenment of men and 9 for the salvation of the whole world from sin, sickness, and death. Victory over the grave SH 51:28-32 His His spirituality separated him from sensuousness, and caused the selfish materialist 30 to hate him; but it was this spirituality which enabled Jesus to heal the sick, cast out evil, and raise the dead. SH 45:16 Glory be to God, and peace to the struggling hearts! Christ hath rolled away the stone from the door of hu 18 man hope and faith, and through the reve lation and demonstration of life in God, hath elevated them to possible at-one-ment with the spiritual 21 idea of man and his divine Principle, Love. SH 292:7-10 Truth will be to us the resurrection and the life only as it destroys all error and the belief that Mind, the only 9 immortality of man, can be fettered by the body, and Life be controlled by death. Primitive error SH 486:9-10 Earth s preparatory school must be improved to the utmost. SH 20:24 25 24 Material belief is slow to acknowledge what the spiritual fact implies. SH 409:23-26 This 24 mortal is put off, and the new man or real man is put on, in proportion as mortals realize the Science of man and seek the true model. SH 216:11-14 The understanding that the Ego is Mind, and that 12 there is but one Mind or intelligence, begins at once to destroy the errors of mortal sense and to supply the truth of immortal sense. SH 232:27-31 It is only when the so-called pleasures and pains of sense pass away in our lives, that we find unquestion 30 able signs of the burial of error and the resurrection to spiritual life. Servants and masters Signs following SH 41:6-7 6 Like our Master, we must depart from material sense into the spiritual sense of being. SH 178:32-4 Whoever reaches the understanding of Christian Science 179:1 in its proper signification will perform the sudden cures of which it is capable; but this can be done only by 3 taking up the cross and following Christ in the daily life. 21 24 Thine, be done! that is, Let not the flesh, but the Spirit, be represented in me. This is the new understanding of spiritual Love. It gives all for Christ, or Truth. It blesses its enemies, heals the sick, casts out error, raises the dead from trespasses and sins, and preaches the gospel to the poor, the meek in heart. The holy struggle SH 326:16-17 (to 1st.) The purpose and motive to live aright can be gained now. SH 249:6-8 6 Let us feel the divine energy of Spirit, bringing us into newness of life and recognizing no mortal nor material power as able to destroy. SH 406:20-25 We We can, and ultimately 21 shall, so rise as to avail ourselves in every direc tion of the supremacy of Truth over error, Life over death, and good over evil, and this growth will go 24 on until we arrive at the fulness of God s idea, and no more fear that we shall be sick and die.
