First Reading Jb 38:1. 8-11 A reading from the book of Job From the heart of the tempest the Lord gave Job his answer. He said: Who pent up the sea behind closed doors when it leapt tumultuous out of the womb, when I wrapped it in a robe of mist and made black clouds its swaddling bands; when I marked the bounds it was not to cross and made it fast with a bolted gate? Come thus far, I said, and no farther: here your proud waves shall break. The Word of the Lord Responsorial Psalm Ps 106:23-26. 28-31. R. v.1 (R.) Give thanks to the Lord, his love is everlasting. 1. Some sailed to the sea in ships to trade on the mighty waters. These men have seen the Lord s deeds, the wonders he does in the deep. (R.) 2. For he spoke; he summoned the gale, tossing the waves of the sea up to heaven and back into the deep; their soul melted away in their distress. (R.) 3. Then they cried to the Lord in their need and he rescued them from their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper: all the waves of the sea were hushed. (R.) 4. They rejoiced because of the calm and he led them to the haven they desired. Let them thank the Lord for his love, the wonders he does for men. (R.)
Second Reading 2 Cor 5:14-17 A reading from the second letter of St Paul to the Corinthians The love of Christ overwhelms us when we reflect that if one man has died for all, then all men should be dead; and the reason he died for all was so that living men should live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised to life for them. From now onwards, therefore, we do not judge anyone by the standards of the flesh. Even if we did once know Christ in the flesh, that is not how we know him now. And for anyone who is in Christ, there is a new creation; the old creation has gone, and now the new one is here. The Word of the Lord Gospel Acclamation Alleluia, alleluia! A great prophet has appeared among us; God has visited his people. Alleluia! Gospel Mk 4:35-41 A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark With the coming of evening, Jesus said to his disciples, Let us cross over to the other side. And leaving the crowd behind they took him, just as he was, in the boat; and there were other boats with him. Then it began to blow a gale and the waves were breaking into the boat so that it was almost swamped. But he was in the stern, his head on the cushion, asleep. They woke him and said to him, Master, do you not care? We are going down! And he woke up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, Quiet now! Be calm! And the wind dropped, and all was calm again. Then he said to them, Why are you so frightened? How is it that you have no faith? They were filled with awe and said to one another, Who can this be? Even the wind and the sea obey him. The Gospel of the Lord Communion Antiphon The eyes of all look to you, Lord, and you give them their food in due season. The question being asked.. Is it easier to pick six winners or nine? We soon found out. Geelong, the outsiders, defeated the favourite, Port Adalaide. which meant all but six members were left by Friday night. These six members still led Saturday night with all four winners. The game between GWS and Collingwood and between St Kilda and Melbourne if anyone would get six. The result was that we had 4 members with six correct. It was good to see. They share the prize; they are Irene Hackett, John Finn, Chris Smyth and Francis Tiernan. Irene who is tipping from afar was late with her tip for the first game and so receives the away team. Fortunately for her the away team was Geelong. Delina Frank who has led for the first ten rounds has moved to equal second. Irene Hackett is now in first spot with 70 points. Then follows John Finn and Delina on 69. We than have a close group, all capable of testing the three leaders. They are James Barrett (68), Adam Lane and Shelley Finn (67) and Chris Smyth and Mick Barden both 66..There has been some interesting tipping over the last few weeks. Ben and Bridget Hansen both have a total of 59 but Bean has scored 21 in the last 4 rounds while Bridget has scored 27. Didier Le Meire leads the Juniors (61).James Barrett challenging for the top spot has 21 out of 24 in the last 3 rounds. Essendon followers have not done so well lately compared to first few games. History. --Teething problems. When Footscray, Noth Melbourne and Hawks entered the League from the Association in 1925 they had a depressing time. at least for three years!! They played 52 games each in this time with Bulldogs winning 14, North 8 and Hawks 7. In 2015 and we look at Premierships won. the order is reversed.

Michael has also taken a lead role in mentoring young members and supporting and training other members. Well done and congratulations Michael from all at St Macartan s Parish. Vatican 11 + 50 - The Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity An Invitation to Men, Women & Youths of the local Deanery; those who are already active in the church and those who wish to become active. We gather on the 1st Monday of the month at St Ann s Parish Centre, 84 East Rd, Seaford at 10am next meeting Monday 6th July. This gathering provides the opportunity for people to discuss their particular areas of mission. To study and discuss a passage of the Gospel and to study the Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity adopted at Vatican11 in November 1965. Missionaries of the interior Pius X1 27 September 1929 speaking to Fr Joseph Cardijn, founder of the Young Christian Workers {YCW} said There are two kinds of mission in the church: the foreign missions in China, Japan, the Congo, among the natives are one kind; but today there is another, the mission of the interior, in the factories and workshops, where there are pagans separated from the church. And today and tomorrow, the missions of the interior will sometimes- will often -be more important and more difficult than the foreign missions. Very well, you are the missionaries of the interior, the Churches missionaries, who will bring back to Christ the working class and their workshops. Kevin Vaughan - Tel. 9786 4463 email, kedwardv@bigpond.com In celebration of the Year of Consecrated Life, Religious and all Parishioners are invited to a Mass of celebration presided over by Bishop Elliott on Saturday, 8th August at 10.45am at St. Kevin's Church, Ormond. Catholic Vocations Ministry Australia (CVMA) together with Vocation Ministers Association of Victoria (VMAV) would love to see as many as possible gathering together as we thank our God for the many people who are committed to "waking up the world to a different way of doing things, of acting and of living" (Pope Francis).
