Human Race Movement s Embrace HD Campaign Proposal Anthony Coleman Philadelphia, PA 2018-2019 www.humanracemovement.com

Greetings Hello Reader, My name is Anthony Coleman. I m the founder of HRM s Embrace HD Campaign. For a long time, it s been my passion to make a positive impact in our society and with my Campaign, I believe I will do just that! Since the youth are my target audience, I want to present my Campaign to middle/high school students with the hope of encouraging them to have HD (Human Dignity)! I made this proposal to share with those who might be interested in working with me towards this project. I hope you will continue to read and possibly become a partner! Thank you for your time and I really hope to hear from you soon. All the best, Anthony Coleman 2

Mission, Vision, & Purpose The Mission: To encourage human dignity by giving a positive, solid foundation of identity and purpose to our humanity. The Vision: To live where we acknowledge the humanity within ourselves and each other in order for us to feel responsible to care, respect & forgive one another. The Purpose: To end the problems that prevent us from achieving peace & unity. Problems such as bullying, racism, low self-esteem, unhealthy relationships, etc. The goal of HRM s Embrace HD Campaign is to explain: The What, Why, and How of HD (Human Dignity)! 3

Posters for HRM s Embrace HD Campaign: Poster #1 Poster #2 4

HRM s Embrace HD Campaign in ACTION! Step 1. (Ask students after my icebreaker) How is everyone doing? Alright, before I introduce myself, I have a very important question to ask all of you: How many of you are human beings? Please raise your hand. Okay, make sure you keep that in mind. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Anthony and I consider myself to be a HRM Activist. HRM stands for Human Race Movement, which is the name of my campaign, and as a HRM Activist, my mission is to encourage others to embrace HD. (Ask students) Can anyone guess what HD stands for? I ll give you a hint: It does not mean High Definition. HD stands for Human Dignity, and I believe as human beings, we are ALL meant to embrace human dignity! Why? Because if we did, racism and hate wouldn t exist. I ll prove it! First, let s talk about the What, Why, and How of HD! (Ask students) Let s start with What: What is human dignity? (Have students come up with their own answer.) (Ask students) It s time for Why: Why is human dignity important? (Have students come up with their own answer.) Instead of asking How, I m going to answer it by showing Poster #1. (Show Poster #1) These 3 questions are the Foundation of HD. (After reading 1. What) Our is the key word. Our means you and everyone else. So, human dignity means to honor the humanity in yourself and everyone else. 5

(After reading 2. Why) Why is peace & unity the goal? Because racism and hate (All negativity) cannot exist in a state of peace & unity. (After reading 3. How) Objective means true for everyone, regardless of how you feel or what you believe. (Give example.) So, love is the standard that we must follow! And if that s true, then the question now becomes......what is love? Step 2. (Show Poster #2 and read top half) Love is the goodness within us, and it s love that inspires us to do good acts! (Read bottom half of Poster #2) Now, since love is objective, that means these Good Acts are objective as well. If we want to achieve peace & unity and get rid of racism and hate, we need to view these Good Acts of Love as mandatory and not optional. Real quickly, let s define each of these Good Acts. 1. Discipline- To have self-control. (Example: Discipline is when you stop yourself from disrespecting someone who made you upset.) 2. Empathy- To have understanding and compassion without judging. (Example: Empathy is when you stop yourself from assuming the worst about someone who did something that you don t agree with.) 3. Faith- To believe in goodness while in a negative situation. (Example: Faith is when you witness people do bad things, but you still believe there is goodness in them.) 4. Forgiveness- To not hate someone for the wrong they ve done. (Example: Forgiveness is when you don t seek revenge against someone.) 6

5. Honesty- To express what s right and true. (Example: Honesty is when you refuse to let someone pressure you to do something you don t want to do.) 6. Integrity- To uphold goodness without compromising. (Example: Integrity is when you would rather fail than cheat to succeed.) 7. Justice- To make things right and fair. (Example: Justice is when you apologize when you ve done something wrong.) 8. Respect- To treat others in a polite manner. (Example: Respect is when you are friendly towards someone who disagrees with you.) 9. Self-Awareness- To acknowledge the worth of your humanity. (Example: Self-Awareness is when no one can make you feel insignificant for being different.) (Ask students) But quick question: What is the worth of your humanity? How valuable are you? (A: You are invaluable! Why? Because of your ability to love!) 10. Wisdom- To discern right from wrong. (Example: Wisdom is when you do what s right when you know you don t have to.) These are the 10 Good Acts of Love and when we choose to embrace human dignity, we choose to embrace each one of these Good Acts! (Ask students) So, do you believe that human dignity is something we all should embrace? (A:Yes!) I agree, but unfortunately, many people don t. Why? Because they don t care about peace & unity. There are people who reject human dignity because instead of wanting peace & unity, they want superficial things such as money, sex, drugs, popularity, etc. (An illustration: If love is the direction and peace & unity is the destination, do we have to follow the direction if we don t care about the destination?) Oh, and guess what? Did you know if you reject human dignity, then that means you are someone who is okay with racism and hate? Allow me to explain: When we have human dignity, we feel inspired to do the Good Acts of Love. If we reject human dignity, then we also reject the Good Acts. So, let s say 7

you heard of a racist who did a hate crime against someone. If you reject having human dignity, you have no right to complain about what the racist did. Why? Because the racist rejected human dignity just like you. If you believe it s okay to reject human dignity, then you must allow other people to reject it as well. So, with all the injustice that has happened such as slavery and the holocaust, you cannot say those acts were wrong. If you do, you would be a hypocrite. The only way we can truly say racism and hate are wrong is when we personally embrace human dignity! Step 3. (Ask students) Okay, I want to go a step further. Human dignity means to honor our humanity, but could we say that s just another way of saying to love yourself and love others? Yes or no? (A:Yes!) Okay, let s do a test. Although I m focused on racism, racism isn t the only issue that affects our human dignity. Right now, I m going to say a bunch of different situations and you tell me if HD is being embraced. Say yes if it is and no if it isn t. Remember, HD means To love yourself and love others. (Refer back to Poster #2 for each situation to see which Good Acts are being honored or violated.) 1. A girl believes she has to be popular in order to feel important. 2. A black guy who loves his family, but is racist towards white people. 3. A girl who leaves an abusive relationship. 4. A guy who wants to commit suicide because he gets harassed for being gay. 5. A girl who apologizes after she said something hurtful to someone. 6. A guy using drugs and alcohol to escape his problems. 7. A girl who believes she is beautiful, even when others call her ugly. 8. A guy who wants to have sex with a lot of girls to feel like a man. 9. A girl who stays in an abusive relationship because she scared to be lonely. 10. A white guy who rejects white guilt and strives to have human dignity! 8

Step 4. Have an open discussion/q&a with students. A potential question to ask students #1: Okay, as we look at these 10 Good Acts of Love, we can agree that all of them are important. However, there is one that s actually most important. Can you guess which one it is? (ANSWER: It s Self-Awareness. Self-Awareness is when you say to yourself, I am a human being who is responsible to have human dignity. Once you acknowledge that, you ll be able to embrace the rest of the Good Acts of Love.) A potential question to ask students #2: Are parents responsible to teach their children to have human dignity? (ANSWER: Yes! The foundation of human dignity must be established and taught within families! We must continue to strive for peace & unity throughout the future generations!) A potential question to ask students #3: Do you have to be perfect to have human dignity? (ANSWER: No! We will make bad choices, but that s why Good Acts such as Forgiveness, Integrity, and Justice exist. Whenever we trip and fall, we don t just stay down. We strive to get back up and continue to move forward!) A potential question to ask students #4: What does it mean to love someone? (ANSWER: To love someone means you desire to share goodness with him/her. However, in order to share goodness with others, you must first cherish the goodness within yourself!) A potential question to ask students #5: Could having human dignity ever be considered wrong? (ANSWER: No! Because love could never be wrong! Human dignity is only wrong to those who have rejected peace & unity.) Step 5. Give my short speech and my farewell. *JUST AN IDEA: I could ask students if any of them would like to become a HRM Activist and I could take a group picture with those who said yes. (I could give them my business card, a sign-up form, and a HRM wristband!) 9

My Short Speech: The goal is peace & unity! The goal is peace & unity! The goal is peace & unity! But if that s the goal, then how can racism and hate exist? Because we forgot the meaning of the one word that will always bring peace & unity! What word is that? Well, it s actually kinda funny because the word is used by so many, and yet misunderstood by so many. The word is LOVE! But what is love? Love is positive. Love is an inspiration. Love is a choice. And do you know what love looks like when we are inspired to make that positive choice? It looks like honesty. It looks like respect. It looks like kindness. It looks like forgiveness. Yes! Virtues are the acts of love! 10

And guess what? We, as humans, all have the ability to love! Did you hear what I said? We, as humans, all have the ability to love! We all have the ability to show respect, to be honest, to care, to forgive, to have integrity, to strive for justice, etc. The ability to achieve peace & unity resides in us, in our humanity! So, let me ask you... Do white people have the ability to love? Do black people have the ability to love? What about people who are gay? What about people who are straight? What about men? What about women? What about Christians? What about atheists? IT DOESN T MATTER! Our ability to love is ingrained in our humanity and our differences DO NOT MATTER!! If that s true, and it is, why is our society so divided? Because we weren t told to strive for peace & unity! Because we weren t told of the 11

connection between love and our humanity! Because we weren t told to know who we are... But I m here to tell you right now... KNOW WHO YOU ARE! You re all unique individuals who have invaluable worth. A worth that s permanent, beautiful and true. A worth that no one can take away from you! A worth that you must hold on to and never let go! A worth that proves you were born worthy and deserving of honor! You are here, you are human, you are invaluable. End of story! If someone doesn t honor that worth within you, then the fault lies in them, not you. Don t ever allow someone s ignorance to become your own. Also, if you don t honor that worth in others, then the fault lies in you, not them. Don t ever allow your ignorance to stop you from being conscious. Yes! You must be woke to truly appreciate the worth of our humanity! So, let s recap... 1. What makes our humanity invaluable? A: Our ability to love. 2. Why is racism stupid and will always be stupid? A: Because all races of people have the ability to love. 3. Why is our ability to love so important? A: Because love is the only way we can achieve peace & unity! Know who you are and Embrace HD! #OneTruth #OneLove #OneHumanity. 12
