Children of Light
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them. Paul says, 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. We looked at Contrast (How things are different) now we look at tense! (Past Present and Future) What does observing the tense tell us in this verse?
As Jesus Was... So are We! Jesus was incarnated...(god embodied in human flesh). This calls us to incarnated living. Where we live incarna0ng Jesus to this world...
Hebrews 1:1-3 Jesus shone the brightness of God s Glory 1 God, who at various Smes and in various ways spoke in Sme past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
John 1:4-9 John speaks of Jesus saying... 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend [overcome] it.
John 1:4-9 We are to bear witness to the light by being light. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which, coming into the world, gives light to every man.
Ma_ 5:13-16 Jesus made His intenson clear 13 You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
2 Corinthians 3: 18-4:1 The ministry of all believers is reflecsng Jesus... But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light Isaiah 60:1-3 Of Israel and the Church... 1 Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. 2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; but the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. 3 The GenSles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

9 (for the fruit of the Spirit [light] is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 1. Goodness.. Uprightness of heart and life. This starts on the inside and works its way out.
The Children of Light reflect God from the inside out. It starts with God s work on the inside... Phil 2:12-13 Working out your salvason with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Ma_ 6:22-23 Jesus Warns about gegng the source right 22 The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
The Darkness Described...Ma_ 23:25-28 25 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self- indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

Romans 12:1-2 describes your co- operason.. 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pa-ern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will.

3. Truth... free from falsehood, deceit. The Children of Light reflect God from the inside out....it starts with God s work on the inside...... It s carried on with your co- opera?on... It s driven by truth before God.
Psalms 51:6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden [part] You will make me to know wisdom.
John 8:44 To the Pharisees You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his nahve language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruilul works of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says: Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.
John 3:19-21 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
