Thy Kingdom Come Thy Will Be Done In Matthew 6:9-10 KJV Jesus instructed us to pray this way; 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. We have all prayed the Lord s Prayer so many times but how often do we Selah? Selah means to Pause and calmly think on that. Matthew 6:33 KJV says; But seek ye, first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. The big question is, what is The Kingdom.? In the Amplified Bible, Matthew 6:33 reads; 33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. What an awesome promise with a condition. What should we seek or strive after? THE KINGDOM!!!
What will happen after we seek The Kingdom, (God s way of doing and being right)? God promises that He will add all things to us. Especially the things He mentioned in Matthew 6:30. Matthew 6:30-31 AMP But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Number 1 FIRSTLY, WE ARE TO PRAY THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE IN EARTH (IN MY LIFE), AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. In other words, Lord, your way of doing things in my life as you see fit for me straight from the Throne Room in Heaven. That is how we come in line with what God wants for us. We don t do our will and then ask God to bless it. We pray and ask God to reveal His Will in our lives which is already blessed. That way not only makes sense but it makes our faith grow as well. Number 2 The second part of Matthew 6:10 says that we are to pray THY WILL BE DONE in earth, as it is in heaven. You may be thinking, But how will I know God s will in my life? The answer to that is THROUGH HIS WORD! 2
The primary way God communicates His will to us is through the Word (In the Bible) to us. There are other ways that God can communicate, but the primary way is the Word He left for us in the Bible. 1 John 5:4 NKJV For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world our faith. John 1:1 NKJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Number 3: IN ORDER TO OVERCOME THE CHALLENGES IN THE WORLD, WE NEED TO LOOK TO THE WORD. John 1:1 says the Word is God Himself, 1 John 5:4 says whatever is born of God OVERCOMES the world. So, the Word is born of God, in fact the Word is God Himself. When we apply the Word, we are placing everything in God s hands because God and the Word are One. The whole Bible is God s speaking to us. In Matthew 6:9-10 KJV, Jesus instructed us to pray this way; 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 3
WHY WOULD WE NOT WANT TO PRAY, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven.? One of the reasons is because many people have become their own god. The only problem with that is; no anointing, no power, no effect, ONLY DEFECTS. Pride has crept in and people begin to make their decisions without the God who made them, the God who knows the end from the beginning. DON T EVER TRADE GOD S WILL FOR YOUR WILL!! MAKE A HABIT OF PRAYING, LORD THY WILL BE DONE IN MY LIFE IN EVERY SITUATION, BIG OR SMALL. Remember: God s Will is in His Word. There is a promise for every situation you are facing and will ever face. If you are not certain about a big decision then bounce it off a man or woman of God whom you can trust. Don t be in a hurry to do things. If it is God today, it will be God tomorrow. If it is God s will, it will be God s bill. There is a distinct difference between God s way of doing things and the world s way of doing things. For example: The world teaches us to save our money for ourselves in order to get rich, but the Word teaches us to sow our money to others to access the wealth we already have. Another example: There is the world s way, which is directed by the flesh (our 5 physical senses); touch, smell, taste, feel, and sound. The World teaches us to have faith in our own limited ability whereas, the Word teaches us to trust/ have faith in an unlimited God who owns everything. 4
If we want to live victoriously in every area of our lives, we need to LIVE IN THIS WORLD but NOT BE LIMITED TO THIS WORLD S RESOURCES. We need to be in constant communication with God about our daily activities and especially the decisions we need make. The Word says that God knows the end from the beginning, so why not ask Him what His will is in every situation? Isaiah 46:10 NKJV Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure God knows the end from the beginning. So, why not take the time to ask Him, listen for the answer and then be obedient to follow His instruction. He will never lead you to destruction. His way for you is already blessed. Don t waste your time trying to figure things out with your natural limited resources. Pray constantly in this way Father not my will but yours in my life. Allow Me to reveal to you one step at a time, Because the student trusts the Teacher. Each step of obedience will take you closer to the answer. Proverbs 16:3 AMP Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed. 1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. 5
God is so good. He already has the answer to any situation you are facing. Just pray and submit all to Him. Say, Lord, not my Will but Thy will be done. PRAY THIS PRAYER OF CONSECRATION AND COMMITMENT TO GOD OUT LOUD Lord, I present myself unto You. May Your will be done in my life. May I never forget that I have surrendered all I am to You. I commit myself to be one whom You can use consecrated and separated unto Your purposes. I ll pay the price by denying the flesh. If You call me in the night time, I ll get on my knees and pray. If I am never seen of men, and if I always work behind the scenes, still I will be faithful. I lay aside all personal ambition. I ll be one who walks in the Spirit and in Your perfect will. In Jesus Name, Your will shall be done in my heart, in my life, and in my family. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen! (Prayer taken from Kenneth E. Hagin) Pastor Lorna Holland Sunday Message 19th November 2017 6
