Ministers All Members Stephen Anenson, Senior Pastor Kurt Jensen, Associate Pastor Zachary Bauknecht, Youth & Education Ministry Coordinator Easter Sunday March 27, 2016 The Prelude The Hymn Christ the Lord is Risen Today No. 367 The Litany for Easter Leader: People of God, you have come seeking the Christ, the Son of the living God. People: Yes, we have set our doubts aside and we have come. We have lived with our fear too long and we have come. We have heard that Jesus has conquered death and we want to hear that good news again. Leader: Do not be afraid, for He has risen from the dead, He has broken the tomb wide open, He has come back to life and is living together with us right here right now. People: We have felt His loneliness, we have prayed His prayers, and we have deserted Him. We feel guilty. Leader: There is no need for your guilt for He has taken it with Him to the cross and has paid the ultimate price for your sin. This is good news He is alive so that we can be alive. People: This is good news He is alive. Leader: He has risen! People: He has risen! The Prayer of the Community (In Unison) God of great wonder, we sense the greatness of today and we feel like shouting from the rooftops. Our pain has been turned to joy, our guilt has been turned to happiness and our despair has been turned to hope. We thank you that Jesus is with us and that His presence breaks through the silence of this morning. Your perfect plan is complete and we give you thanks and praise for this Easter day. Amen. The Time for Greeting The Announcements The Worship Hymn I Am the Resurrection (on screen) The Lesson I Corinthians 15:19-26 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death

came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. The Gospel Luke 24:1-12 1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again. 8 Then they remembered his words. 9 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. 11 But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened. The Affirmation of Faith I believe in a great God who created the world in power and love and whose character is reflected in all of creation. I believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of Man. His life, His teachings, His miracles, His death and His resurrection combine to provide true forgiveness of sin and life for all eternity. His strength bolsters my weakness, His love covers my failures and His sacrifice forgives my sin. I trust Him as a friend and brother, a Savior and Lord. I believe in the Holy Spirit, God at work in and among us. I believe that God is present and active in today's world and that I can know some of the joy of heaven right now. I believe that the church of Christ is the people of God and that in prayer, the sacraments, and the fellowship of the church we can experience true meaning and everlasting love in our lives. You will be inspired and equipped through the powerful biblical teaching of Mark Batterson, Francis Chan, Lisa Harper and Rich Stearns. Where is God's peace when I seem to fret about every little thing? This three week session will try to understand the thinking that often defeats us, the attitudes and behaviors that keep us from living a truly joyous victorious life in Christ. I'd love to have you join us. Please bring your Bibles as we rediscover the awesome promises of God applying His Word to everyday life." -- Pastor Tom Hunt Reminders A nursery/playroom is available across from the restrooms on the main floor of the educational wing.
