John 18 This weekend marks the end of the liturgical year for our Catholic Church, on a feast day that celebrates the royalty of Jesus, the Feast of Christ the King. Jesus reminds us in Scripture, right before his death on the cross that his Kingdom doesn t belong to this world and we need to be reminded that neither does ours. On this celebration of Christ the King, we need to remember that through our baptism, we were born into Jesus s royalty and that he wants to give us his heavenly inheritance. When we were baptized, we were also baptized as priest, prophet, and king. Our kingdom is not of this world, just as Jesus proclaimed in Scripture; although our current world swears to provide all the riches of a seemingly real kingdom. We see it all too often that a person can have all of this world, but can find themselves still feeling empty and lost. It is only through the fullness of truth, provided by Jesus through our Catholic Church that will lead us to ultimate fulfillment. We must seek his goodness. We must live out this inheritance. An aspect that makes this feast so awesome is that Jesus wasn t just some ordinary king. He didn t boast of riches in fact, he had nothing of this world! No gold, no silver, but he was the Son of God and that was enough for him to be rich. He humbled himself so that he could welcome ALL into His kingdom. He welcomes US into his kingdom, even though none of us are worthy, so do not be afraid to approach the kingdom of the Lord! Do not be afraid to pray your heart out to enter into this inheritance because Jesus desires it for all of us. As we approach the Advent season a time of waiting upon the coming of our Lord Jesus let us take the time to reflect on the holy inheritance Jesus wishes us to enter into. What can we do to humble ourselves to enter His kingdom? In the Gospel of Matthew, the three wise men recognized the royalty of Jesus while he was still a babe. How can we recognize this importance? What is one more thing we can do each day to recognize the glory of God? Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage. Youth Minister

Knights of Columbus, Council 10243 Friends of St. Bernard Parish. As the weather grows colder during this time leading to the holiday season, we are reminded that there are those among us who are in need of help. So far this year, Council 10243 has donated thirty six coats in the "Coats for Kids" program. These coats were delivered to the Manna for Life store, where the truly needy shop. We also have donated large amounts of food to the Golden House and the Freedom House. Cold weather intensifies the needs of those less fortunate. Soon we will be taking part in bell-ringing for the Salvation Army. We are always trying to make a difference in our community.
