The purpose of the law It excites sin in us What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, You shall not covet. But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. (Romans 7:7-8)

Davidic Covenant - Promises a great name (v9) a place for the people (v10) rest (v11) a house (v11) a seed, of whom God would be Father (v12-15) a kingdom that will be forever (v16)
