Merry Christmas from the Knights of Columbus! Weekly Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament Weekly exposition of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Mondays at Assumption Church from 2 pm until the conclusion of the evening Novena service. Please try to set aside at least one hour weekly to spend with the Lord in prayer for the special intentions requested by the archbishop: an increase in priestly vocations, the success of the archdiocesan synod, and healing for our suffering Church. Sign-up sheets will be available at the church entrances. Please note: exposition will not take place if Monday is a holiday. K of C Council 1155 Annual coats for Kids Drive Have your children or grandchildren outgrown their winter coats? Are they still in good shape? The Knights of Columbus Council 1155 is making it easy to pass them on to a needy child in our area. Gloves, mittens, hats, sweaters & sweatshirts are also welcome! Your gift will keep a local child warm this winter. During the month of November, the Knights will collect new or gently used and clean winter coats. They will be inspected, then delivered to children in the Manchester area as soon as possible. Collection containers will be located in the Saint James Church Hall and at Assumption Church in the front entrance leading to the hall. No coats? No problem! Cash gifts for purchase of coats will be gratefully accepted as well. Please contact Kevin McGuire, 860-432-8617 (KevinPMcGuire@Outlook.com) for information/pick up of your gifts. Mail checks to: Knights of Columbus, Council 1155, P.O. Box 2413, Manchester, CT 06045. Thanks to your generosity, hundreds of coats, hats, and mittens have been delivered to children in need here in Manchester. Your support is sincerely appreciated!

THANKSGIVING PRAYER This Thanksgiving, let us remember all the good things, and people, who have come into our lives. We focus on thanking each one who has helped us, and ultimately thank God for the good gifts of this world. Let us pray God our Father, Graciously accept from your humble people a thankful heart and spirit. Everything we have and are able to share with others ultimately comes from your love of your creations. Often we think that everything we have is our own creation; we ask you this day to create in us a spirit of gratitude, that we may always know that all good gifts come from you. We ask this through Christ our brother, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Celebrate Thanksgiving at Saint James! We won t be serving turkey, but we will offer something far more precious Jesus Christ Himself! Please consider joining your parish family at Holy Mass on Thanksgiving Eve at 7:00PM as we give thanks to God for the many blessings He has bestowed on us. Each of us has Thanksgiving traditions we hold dear eating a wonderful meal with family and friends, attending or watching a football game or the Macy s Parade, displaying paper pilgrims and turkeys made by children or grandchildren, or celebrating at the Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving Day. All of these can be wonderful and meaningful, and many of us wouldn t feel it was Thanksgiving without following the customs that mean the most to us. But if you haven t included participating in our Thanksgiving Mass as one of your must-do s, maybe this is the year you ll add that as one of the central fixtures of your holiday celebration. Thanksgiving means a great deal to most of us but for some it can be a difficult time. If you have recently lost a loved one, or are experiencing health issues, or feel let down by someone you expected to join you, or are feeling sad for any number of reasons, I pray you will take comfort in the memories of happier Thanksgivings, and feel solace in knowing God s overwhelming love for you. On the other hand, if you are in a position to reach out to someone who may be having a difficult time dealing with this holiday even if it s just a note, a phone call, or even a smile you could bring a bit of joy to that person and remind him or her of God s great love and caring. I pray that Our Lord will bless each of you this Thanksgiving! Please know how thankful I am for you, for your devotion to Saint James Parish, for caring for your fellow parishioners, and for the help you consistently offer me. Father Janusz, Deacon Germain, and Deacon LaRocque join me in praying that you and your families will enjoy a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving! Gratefully in Christ, PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL In accordance with Archbishop Leonard P. Blair s recent decree, we have been praying the PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL after all regularly scheduled Masses. SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL prayer cards are available and may be found at the church entrances. Please feel free to take one home and continue to pray for the Church. Archdiocese for the Military Services: Serving Those Who Serve On the weekend of November 24th/25th, a collection will be taken for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA at each Mass. This collection gives us the opportunity to serve those who serve. With the money raised from this collection, the Archdiocese for Military Services will be able to ensure that all Catholic men, women and families have access to the sacraments, authentic Catholic formation, and the spiritual guidance of a Catholic chaplain wherever they are stationed. The AMS serves 1.8 million Catholics worldwide with only 500 ordained priests - they need your support! Thank you for your generosity. Worldwide Marriage Encounter Do we put our trust in God and allow him to be Lord in every area of our life like the widow did?
