MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE Sunday, November 10, 2013 10:00 a.m. ORGAN PRELUDE: Prelude on Tender Thought Kentucky Harmony, 1816 Charles Callahan (b.1951) *[Please stand for the lighting of the candles] CALL TO WORSHIP Sing to the Lord a new song; Sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise the holy name; Proclaim that salvation comes day after day. *HYMN: O How Glorious, Full of Wonder NCH #558 ANNOUNCEMENTS PRAYER OF INVOCATION (unison) O God, in whom we live, and move and have our being, we marvel that you have claimed us as your possession, until we remember that all the universe is yours. We boast that you have chosen us as your people, until we recognize that all the peoples of the world are begotten by you. We have no cause for pride; only praise. Therefore, we sing to you, and bless your holy name; we declare your glory among the nations, your marvelous works among all the peoples. Amen. *THE LORD'S PRAYER (trespasses) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen. *GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 95 ANTHEM: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise Text by Walter Chalmers Smith (1824-1908) Tune: St. Denio Arranged by Hal H. Hopson (b. 1933) Rebecca Shrimpton, soprano Alice Marie Alrie Terrill Memorial Music Immortal, invisible, God only wise, In light inaccessible hid from our eyes, Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, Almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light, nor wanting, not wasting, thou rulest in might; thy justice, like mountains high soaring above; thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love. To all, life thou givest, to both great and small. In all life thou livest, the true life of all. We blossom and flourish like leaves on the tree, Then wither and perish; but naught changeth thee. Thou reignest in glory; thou dwellest in light. Thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight. All praise we would render; O help us to see tis only the splendor of light hideth thee! MORNING PRAYER CONGREGATION S JOYS AND CONCERNS May the words of our mouths, May the meditations of our hearts, Be acceptable to you, O God, our Rock and our Redeemer. Amen. Let us pray SILENT PRAYER-PASTORAL PRAYER-CHORAL RESPONSE SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 8 *HYMN: The Lord s My Shepherd PH #84

SERMON: Under a Watchful Eye MOMENT OF MEDITATION OFFERTORY SENTENCE OFFERTORY ANTHEM: Let all things now living Traditional Welsh melody Text, harmonization, and descant by Katherine K. Davis (1892-1980) Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving To God the creator triumphantly raise. Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us, Who still guides us on to the end of our days. God s banners are o er us, His light goes before us, A pillar of fire shining forth in the night. Till shadows have vanished and darkness is banished As forward we travel from light into light. His law he enforces, the stars in their courses And sun in its orbit obediently shine; The hills and the mountains, the rivers and foundations, The deeps of the ocean proclaim him divine. We too should be voicing our love and rejoicing; With glad adoration a Song let us raise Till all things now living unite in thanksgiving; To God in the highest, Hosanna and praise! *DOXOLOGY Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Praise God all creatures here below, Praise God above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. *HYMN: For the Beauty of the Earth PH #66 BENEDICTION *[The Removal of the Flame ] CHORAL RESPONSE ORGAN POSTLUDE: Tuba Tune in D Major Craig Sellar Lang (1891-1971)
