President Oliver stated that we may need to do an additional fundraiser. Laity Teaching Moment: President Oliver asked: if I am in a church with 40 members and I ve served my 8 years as President on the Lay and no one wants to take the Presidency, what do you do? Sis. Starr Battle stated we teach and train our leaders, the 1 st Vice President needs to be trained and ready to step forward into the Presidency. Bro. Winchester asked, What if no one steps up? Sis. Battle stated that we cannot wait until the 28 th of 30 days to ask someone to run or an office. We have to work with people that we identify with leadership ability to come join the Lay Organization and teach them to become leaders. Some of us are not willing to move out of the way. We have to get people who are able to step in and takeover when you are sick and need healing or need to take care of your business. Sis. Battle further stated that we need to have shadowing of these positions so someone can step in when there is a need. Sis. Betty Duell stated that we must motivate and train someone and let them do the job before they actually take over the position and to be there for them when they need you. Bro. Adolphus Kelly stated that we need to look for candidates before the end of the conference year. President Oliver stated that we have to encourage each other and help one another.
