A Message from our Pastor Dear People of St. Patrick Parish, Every person who believes in God should take the words of Jesus in the Gospel today, to heart. Christians or not, the directive comes directly from God to all human beings on the face of the earth. You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandant. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Today, we ask ourselves if I do this, follow this commandment and really try to live it, what do I get out of it? First of all, if everyone practiced the 10 Commandments on this earth, we would have no sin and no effects from the consequences of sin, murder, robbery, rape, stealing, and hate would disappear. We could truly be free and happy and able to enjoy our lives and our families and friends. If we could live without fear and worry, how much more productive we could be in life. Well, if I do all this besides peace, joy, and happiness, what do I get? Eternal life in heaven with God and all my family and friends in a state of life that never ends. All of this had been promised by God to all people who will accept Him, follow Him, and value that relationship. This week on November 1st, we celebrate all the people who are saints with God in heaven. We pray to them and ask them to help us get there to be with them. November 2nd, all Souls Day, we pray for everyone who has died and especially for the souls in purgatory who are making up for their sins but know that they will get heaven, If there is something that is in the way of my getting to heaven, then I need to make it right, ask for God s mercy and forgiveness. For Catholics, we do this in Confession, the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Do you want to go to heaven to be with God and our loved ones? Well, take to heart the words of Jesus in the Gospel today. Let us pray together that we the People of St. Patrick Parish, will all be in heaven one day, but not to soon, and we will meet all our friends from St. Joseph in Pinole. God Bless, Fr. Larry Young Pastor
