T R I N I T Y LUTHERAN CHURCH LUTHERAN CHURCH - MISSOURI SYNOD FARIBAULT MINNESOTA THE ORDER OF THE DIVINE SERVICE SETTING I TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST Sunday, 8:00 AM The Sacrament Of The Altar will be celebrated at the 5:30 PM & 8:00 AM services. Anyone who is not yet instructed, in doubt or holds a differing confession and yet desires to receive the Sacrament is asked first to speak with a Pastor, Elder or Worship Assistant. The individual cups in the center of the tray (containing the amber color liquid) are prepared for those with concerns for alcohol consumption. Gluten free wafers are available in the container in the center of the tray. HYMN OF INVOCATION Thee Will I Love, My Strength, My Tower LSB 694 Please stand P In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. C Amen. CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS OF SINS P Brothers and sisters in Christ, if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. C But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8,9 P Let us then confess our sins to God our Father C Most merciful God, we confess that we are sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You and each other by what we think, what we say, and what we do and do not do. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves. We deserve only punishment for our sins. (A time for silent confession of sins) P For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who gave His life that we would live, C Look upon us with mercy and forgive us our sins. Change us and make us new. Amen. P People of God, I have good news for you! God has heard your pleas for mercy and given you His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you and to rise to bring you life. Therefore, as a called and ordained servant of my Lord Jesus Christ and by His authority, I forgive you all your sins. In the name of God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. C Amen

TRINITY CHOIR Teach Me, O Lord SECOND READING Hebrews 3:12-19 12 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called today, that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. 15 As it is said, Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion. 16 For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses? 17 And with whom was he provoked for forty years? (We have come to share in Christ.) Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief. P This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God. Please stand

Divine Service I 5 COMMON ALLELUIA AND VERSE HOLY GOSPEL Mark 10:17-27 (Jesus responds to a man seeking to inherit eternal life.) P The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark, from the tenth chapter. 17 As [Jesus] was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? 18 And Jesus said to him, Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother. 20 And he said to him, Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth. 21 And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. 22 Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. 23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! 24 And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, Children, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. 26 And they were exceedingly astonished, and said to him, Then who can be saved? 27 Jesus looked at them and said, With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God. P This is the Gospel of the Lord. CHILDREN S MESSAGE Please be seated HYMN OF THE DAY Gracious God, You Send Great Blessings LSB 782

Please stand SERVICE OF THE SACRAMENT P The Lord be with you. C And also with you. P We celebrate the Sacrament of the Altar in the confidence that our Lord gives us His very body and blood to eat and drink in, with and under the bread and wine. We receive the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our union with God and with one another. As we trust His words and repent of our sins, we proclaim Christ s death until He comes. Holy Communion is a confession of our faith and we require that those who receive this Sacrament be instructed and share in the beliefs we hold. Hear now, the Words of Our Lord, spoken at the time of The Last Supper. (Words of Our Lord Spoken here) P People of God, do you believe the body and blood of Christ is present in, with and under the bread and wine? If so, please answer, I do so believe. C I do so believe. P In addition, do you wish to receive the many blessings of this Sacrament: the forgiveness of sins, communion with Christ, unity with one another as Christians, and the opportunity to remember our Lord s sacrifice, give Him thanks for this gift and for our salvation, and proclaim our Lord s death on the cross for us? If yes, please answer: with humility and thankfulness, I wish to receive these gifts of grace. C With humility and thankfulness, I wish to receive these gifts of grace.
