Jan 09 2019 Wed 2019.01.09 Waking up to who we really are Rev 11: 2nd The (to 2nd ;) Wednesday Readings...The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; Isa 40:5 (to :) 5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: John :44 (to 1st,) 44 Jesus cried and said, John :46 46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. Isa 60:1 1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. Eph. 5:14 (to Wherefore), 14 Awake 14 14 Wherefore...Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. John 11:1, 4, 5, 7 (to,), 11 Our, 17, 20 23 1 4 5 7 11 17 20 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. Then after that saith he to his disciples,...our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already. Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. 1/7
22 23 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. John 11:32 34, 38 32 33 34 38 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. John 11:41 44 41 42 43 44 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. SH 9:22 We must look deep into realism instead of accepting only the outward sense of things. SH 95: 32 Material sense does not unfold the facts of existence; but spiritual sense lifts human consciousness into eternal Truth. Spiritual awakening SH 288:31 1 The eternal Truth destroys what mortals seem to have learned from error, and man's real existence as a child of God comes to light. 1 SH 2:6 10 This awakening is the forever coming of Christ, the advanced appearing of Truth, which casts out error and heals the sick. This is the salvation which comes through God, the divine Principle, 6 9 2/7
Love, as demonstrated by Jesus. SH 75: 13 Jesus said of Lazarus: Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. SH 9: 25 Sleep and apathy are phases of the dream that life, substance, and intelligence are material. SH 43:28 The Science Jesus taught and lived must triumph over all material beliefs about life, substance, and intelligence, and the multitudinous errors growing from such beliefs. SH 8:11 Mortal existence is a dream of pain and pleasure in matter, a dream of sin, sickness, and death; and it is like the dream we have in sleep, in which every one recognizes his condition to be wholly a state of mind. In both the waking and the sleeping dream, the dreamer thinks that his body is material and the suffering is in that body. Disease a dream SH 250:22 25 Now I ask, Is there any more reality in the waking dream of mortal existence than in the sleeping dream? There cannot be, since whatever appears to be a mortal man is a mortal dream. SH 403:14 16 You command the situation if you understand that mortal existence is a state of self-deception and not the truth of being. SH 417:20 To the Christian Science healer, sickness is a dream from which the patient needs to be awakened. SH 75:13 20 Jesus restored Lazarus by the understanding that Lazarus had never died, not by an admis- Raising the dead 3/7
sion that his body had died and then lived again. Had Jesus believed that Lazarus had lived or died in his body, the Master would have stood on the same plane of belief as those who buried the body, and he could not have resuscitated it. SH 476:4 5 In divine Science, God and the real man are inseparable as divine Principle and idea. SH 475:28 (only) Man is incapable of sin, sickness, and death. SH 299:26 Corporeal sense, or error, may seem to hide Truth, 27 health, harmony, and Science, as the mist obscures the sun or the mountain; but Science, the sunshine of Truth, will melt away the shadow and reveal the celestial peaks. SH 493:28 If Jesus awakened Lazarus from the dream, illusion, of death, this proved that the Christ could improve on a false sense. SH 494: 29 Jesus 27 Jesus demonstrated the inability of corporeality, as well as the infinite ability of Spirit, thus helping erring human sense to flee from its own convictions and seek safety in divine Science. Reason, rightly directed, serves to correct the errors of corporeal sense; but sin, sickness, and death will seem real (even as the experiences of the sleeping dream seem real) until the Science of man's eternal harmony breaks their illusion with the unbroken reality of scientific being. Which of these two theories concerning man are you ready to accept? One is the mortal testimony, changing, dying, unreal. The other is the eternal and real evidence, bearing Truth's signet, its lap piled high with immortal fruits. Reason and Science SH 9:20 22 You say, I dreamed last night. What a mistake is that! The I is Spirit. God Illusive dreams 4/7
never slumbers, and His likeness never dreams. SH 289:31 32 Man is not the offspring of flesh, but of Spirit, of Life, not of matter. SH 588:11 (to 1st ;) There is but one I, or Us, but one divine Principle, or Mind, governing all existence; SH 250:7 11 (to 2nd.) 9 Spirit is the Ego which never dreams, but understands all things; which never errs, and is ever conscious; which never believes, but knows; which is never born and never dies. Spiritual man is the likeness of this Ego. Spirit the one Ego SH 333:9 10 9 nature. Christ expresses God's spiritual, eternal SH 26: 14 This Christ, or divinity of the man Jesus, was his divine nature, the godliness which animated him. Christ s demonstration SH 285:27 31 27 As mortals reach, through knowledge of Christian Science, a higher sense, they will seek to learn, not from matter, but from the divine Principle, God, how to demonstrate the Christ, Truth, as the healing and saving power. Salvation is through reform SH 4:17 22 Simply asking that we may love God will never make us love Him; but the longing to be better and holier, expressed in daily watchfulness and in striving to assimilate more of the divine character, will mould and fashion us anew, until we awake in His likeness. Watchfulness requisite SH 503:10 In the universe of Truth, matter is unknown. No supposition of error 5/7
enters there. SH 228:27 29 (to 1st.) 27 The humble Nazarene overthrew the supposition that sin, sickness, and death have power. Spiritual harmony Priestly pride humbled SH 5: We are sometimes led to believe that darkness is as real as light; but Science affirms darkness to be only a mortal sense of the absence of light, at the coming of which darkness loses the appearance of reality. So sin and sorrow, disease and death, are the suppositional absence of Life, God, and flee as phantoms of error before truth and love. Light and darkness SH 2:1 2, 4 6 1 If sickness is real, it belongs to immortality; if true, it is a part of Truth. But if sickness and sin are illusions, the awakening from this mortal dream, or illusion, will bring us into health, 6 holiness, and immortality. SH 4:28 Speak the truth to every form of error. Tumors, ulcers, tubercles, inflammation, pain, deformed joints, are waking dream-shadows, dark images of mortal thought, which flee before the light of Truth. Morality required SH 447:20 22 Expose and denounce the claims of evil and disease in all their forms, but realize no reality in them. SH 391: 19, 22 (only) When the body is supposed to say, I am sick, never plead guilty. If you say, I am sick, you plead guilty. SH 4:20 27 Argue at first mentally, not audibly, that the patient has no disease, and conform the argument so as to destroy the evidence of disease. Mentally insist that harmony is the fact, and 6/7
that sickness is a temporal dream. Realize the presence of health and the fact of harmonious being, until the body corresponds with the normal conditions of health 27 and harmony. SH 395: 23, 27 It is mental quackery to make disease a reality to hold it as something seen and felt and then to attempt its cure through Mind. 27 Mental practice, which holds disease as a reality, fastens disease on the patient, and it may appear in a more alarming form. SH 4:16 To prevent disease or to cure it, the power of Truth, of divine Spirit, must break the dream of the material senses. SH 411: 26 Disease is always induced by a false sense mentally entertained, not destroyed. Disease is an image of thought externalized. The mental state is called a material state. Whatever is cherished in mortal mind as the physical condition is imaged forth on the body. Fear as the foundation SH 39:22 27 Now is the time for so-called material pains and material pleasures to pass away, for both are unreal, because impossible in Science. To break this earthly spell, mortals must get the true idea and divine Principle of all that really exists 27 and governs the universe harmoniously. SH 8:32 2 When we wake to the truth of being, all disease, 1 pain, weakness, weariness, sorrow, sin, death, will be unknown, and the mortal dream will forever cease.
