Jason Baxter *The Good News of the Birth of Christ Luke 2:1-7 *Call To Worship Leader: The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. People: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. Leader: And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. People: The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Let us worship the Lord who is born in a manger! - Adapted from Isaiah 9:2, 6, 8 *Opening Hymn O Come All Ye Faithful 234 UMH Lighting of the Christ Candle Lay Reader: This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all... If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son purifies us from all sin (I John 1:5, 7). We light this candle to celebrate the one who has come to bring light to the world. People: May the light sent from God illumine us and show us the way that leads to life!
